Learning To Walk Again

This YouTuber doesn't like to reply to comments on his videos because he says it is too difficult to communicate without being able to see the person and pick up on any visual cues and inflections. I can understand that, so I told me and he made a video reply back. This reminded me to make videos.

Finally, Bluesky can upload ten minute videos! One of the worst things about this platform had been that there were such extreme restrictions on both the length and size of videos so everything had to be about one minute. Until now I couldn't take is seriously as a video platform.

This Washington Post article inspired me to create a class that is basically doodling as a form of meditation. It start on OCT 4, runs for eight 30-min sessions (on Sundays) and is only $40. Come doodle with me. www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/202...

been weening myself off socials for years now. for me it amplifies my adhd/dopamine issues. fwiw i’ve found i can comfortably enjoy bsky in modest amounts if i stick to the “following tab”. grateful i get to know what’s going on a little. ya’ll are great 💙

I'm beginning to realize that my life would have been so much easier had I uploaded my #writings to #Ellipsus to have a good #editor review them all and send my #drawings to #Padlet to have a drawing instructor #critique them before doing so much complex #web-design work! Start with the small parts.

Over the summer I did a haiku comic and a one page comic story. David teaches entire classes on those two subjects that would be wonderful to take for people who want to tackle on of those areas. I'm going to take the doodle class as a warm up for a more advanced one that will be offered later.

I will teach you how to draw comics on postcards. www.laskycomics.com/web-shop/pos...

These last day of school videos are fun! I wish my family would have thought of this when I was in school. We sort of did have video on a last day but they weren't really interview style and that way of doing it brings up nice memories. #LastDayOfSchool #LastDayOfEighthGrade #MiddleSchool

As someone who started writing larger works my research lead me to a surprising connection between the words *#authority* and *#author*. This is a connection that I doubt hardly anyone seems to make in modern times yet it is worth examining where it started. #Etymology #LanguageArts #Books

I really enjoyed this adaptation of The Little Prince! The book was required reading in high school but I had forgot some of the plot. Roughest Draft reviewed it recently and that refreshed my memory so I had to check out the whole story again! #GreatFilm #GreatBook #Puppetry #Animation

I will be taking a fun #comics class over this Summer! For the last year or two I needed more custom illustration work in my projects but haven't had the open time to draw as I do now. This will be the first time that my teacher is also a former classmate! (in graphic design a while ago.)

Such an enjoyable tutorial for the most awesome of styles. While I am often admiring their look I sometimes wonder how the manufacturing was done. A relaxing demonstration and educational walk-through. #Sweatpants #TimelessStyle #Sporty #Sweats #Fly

This looks like a great show to re-visit! I watched some of it but probably not every episode. Fascinating how even back in 1992 reading scores were starting to drop due to digital distractions long before the age of the smartphone. #GhostWriter #KidsReading #MiddleSchool #EducationalProgramming

I'd have loved to start serious swimming this early on. He does an incredible job. #Diving #Persistence

Kino watching Flow.

This was a fun game to watch this last weekend. I ended up watching Eckstein's game over watching the Superbowl even though Seattle played in it. No advertisements and front-row seats? What a great deal! #EcksteinBasketball #MiddleSchoolBasketball #SeattlePublicSchools #Basketball #Fun #GoEagles!

From 4-13 to the Super Bowl. The Seahawks and Patriots didn't just change plays; they reset their culture. I wrote about the parallels between their turnaround strategies ("Mission Over BS") and the chamber music mindset.

Writing a poem a day has been a very rewarding experience for me as this project wouldn't exist had I not tried this exercise. At first I focused on full length poems but I've started to get into haiku, couplets, and a,b,b,a rhyme schemes. #HaikuWritingMonth #PoetryMonth #Poetry

The reed was picked. Then, the snow came. ❄️ My Schubert recital was canceled, but the music didn't disappear. What a canceled recital taught me about life, legacy, and Schubert:

Last summer I was in process of drawing a mountain of illustrations for Learning To Walk Again but I found a few hours to participate in this talk with three SE people and Dylan. Usually SE talks are set up to be one on one but I'd say this one worked pretty well with the three of us!

I just set up a YouTube channel where I will go over the details of my interactive book sites! It will include everything from illustration work, poetry, character animation and everything related to my projects. Subscribe now and I'll upload content very soon! #InteractiveBook #eBook #Poetry

This looks like a great film, I wonder if it plays at the Northwest Film Forum? @nwfilmforum.bsky.social I can't tell if Film Forum is the same organization as Northwest Film Forum. #NewMovies #Documentaries #HighSchool #InspiringTeacher

Grant Snider kindly included m in a Substack post called "Haiku Comics Anthology" -- so I'm finally posting actual material to my Substack. Who knows if it will last...? davidlasky308808.substack.com/p/more-haiku...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I wrote a Yelp review for Eckstein. I figured since I wrote so much about it in my book I might as well post a review too. I just want to know who made that summary for the school that is in the description below? Okay I admit, it's about right. #YelpReview #EcksteinMiddleSchool #GoodSchool

#Handlettering has some fun designs on it.

This is an early concept I used for the poem "Interare." The idea was to surround the word "are" so that it was inside the confines of the second part of the word. I was afraid the bottom part would read "IareR. learningtowalkagain.life/ShortPoems/ #PoemHeadings #InteractiveBook #HandLettering
