The art section on every color page got better! Switch to palettes: each picture becomes the colors extracted from it... Plus: hide the title, let the rows drift, filter by art, pop culture or wiki, and copy any picture's colors with their names. names.color.pizza/color/berry-...

there used to be a strong correlation between seeing neat things online, and the person who made it: 1. is very knowledgeable and passionate about it 2. put love and care into it 3. is getting recognition for it but that trust is now gone, the grifters skipped to step 3, the slop ghouls have won

My blog is open source and built using Svelte + SvelteKit's static renderer. You can fork it and run your own blog if you'd like to! It has some pretty sweet features built-in like related posts and search functionality (while still being fully static)

Tired: Multiple components in a file Wired: Reusable snippets within a file

rich harris@rich-harris.dev

the single biggest criticism svelte has received over the years is 'you can't have multiple components in a file'. so we fixed it! by making them unnecessary. with declaration tags (svelte.dev/docs/svelte/...), snippets/each blocks/etc can have their own state: svelte.dev/playground/a...

Keep the old spirit of the internet alive theuselessweb.com/sites-we-lost

theuselessweb.comThe Sites We LostA memorial to the weird little corners of the internet that lived on The Useless Web.
Tim Holman@aussie.bsky.social

Been thinking about it for a long time, but finally built out an archive of lost sites from The Useless Web, attributed, and historically-accurate as best I could get. Sad how many fell to spammers, or just straight out expired, but I guess all art can't last forever!

Sick! TIL Safari can do this

mrmrs@mrmrs.bsky.social

Got app toolbar in Safari to dynamically use current colors on randoma11y.com - took me 6 hours longer than I expected to figure out but I think it was worth it. Before and after video.

I felt the need to write "This todo list is for the human creating this app, not any AI agents" to a todo list file in one of my repos today. What a peculiar world we live in...

I just read the following in a company's next year planning: "For customers, this means that they can leverage [the platform] in an infinitely flexible, hyper-personalized, trust-building visual-explanation-oriented experience." AI slop is everywhere

Part of the magic of people building stuff pre-AI for me was that no matter how silly the project, someone actually had to think about it and spend their own time building it. "Claude spit this out in 3 minutes" really doesn't hit the same.

I've been waiting for a tool like this!

David Aerne@meodai.color.pizza

Built a palette extractor that thinks like a curator, not a pixel counter. – Physics-based color repulsion – Auto-detects muted vs vibrant bias – Adaptive spacing to hit target count – OKLCh color space (perceptually uniform) Early Access: please break it! chipper-otter-d6c600.netlify.app

Hello, here's a brain dump of everything I know about animation performance. Animating layout isn't always bad. Global CSS variables are a performance killer. Hardware accelerated blurs can crash sites. Surprised? Those and more in this post: motion.dev/blog/web-ani...

I forgot to mention that every easing can also be used in pure CSS, no JS required, including the spring curves!

Anime.js@animejs.com

Anime.js 4.2.0 is out! 🧩 All modules can now be imported individually with subpaths 🎨 CSS variable values support 🏹 Simpler spring API with bounce & duration params 📈 More WAAPI built-in easing functions 🎛️ And an easing editor (animejs.com/easing-editor/)! Plus tons of fixes and improvements!

But, I couldn't stop there! Now that I had a taste of the ASCII bug, I knew that I needed to make a better tool for making ASCII animation. So, I spent a handful of nights with Copilot spinning up an MVP of my very first app: www.ascii-motion.app (desktop only for now)

An old VR experiment from 6 years ago. I was fascinated by how some bugs could lay eggs in a hex grid without looking, so I tried it myself by sending haptic vibrations to my butt. #gamedev #indiedev
