Hey, just an aside - please don’t feel like you have to follow me because I followed you - you don’t, this isn’t a trade. That’s it. I could probably discuss more about why I “follow” people1️⃣, but that’s just really subtext.

You're laughing. I'm trying to get people to to click on "hey guys it's not hard to figure out why farmers love Trump, he's opening up whole new types of farm slavery" as much as they click on "here's some more gossip about Ballerina Farm" & you're laughing

i understands that this is how you get people to click on something and i am all for that but ill never quite get over using "youtube thumbnail reaction face" for videos about important issues

I rounded up 13 bone-chilling Indigenous horror reads that’ll crawl under your skin and into your dreams. Stephen Graham Jones is back with Off the Reservation, Never Whistle at Night returns for blood, and writers from Alaska to Aotearoa are bringing the scares. redpopnews.com/13-bone-chil...

they did those things & also made the new Battlestar Galactica! Partly to say, "WE DID TELL YOU, here are some Oscar nominees so you LISTEN this time" [not technically shilling for my book because it doesn't come out til 2028, but this right here 👇 was a notable part of the underpinnings of BSG]

32% of eligible US voters chose Trump in 2024, yet it was presented in the American media as an amazing landslide. Lula's reelection was significantly bigger, but it will be presented as eking out a win.

a lot of fandomites will protest when you say it, but fandom has been like that from the start, much more obsessed with an attachment to the idea of intellectual property than to cultural and creative expression beyond or independently of capitalism.

i say His for the obvious reason that you never hear an older woman say this stuff. ‘i love my little boy toy he isn’t all ran through and full of expectations like the men my age’ like you can’t even hear that IN YOUR IMAGINATION

obviously i have no problem with an age gap except when the older one in the relationship openly admits his relief that the younger one is too inexperienced to realize she’s too good for him

I'm not criticizing those who are showcasing the accomplishments of scientists, artists, and writers to debunk RFK Jr.'s comments but I think it's also important to treat them not as ignorance, but as the outright malice they are. He made those comments to claim a US citizen is unfit for the Senate.

I appreciate that people want a new Mass Effect, but the future where fans advocate for the work itself and not the people who make it is the one the vultures at EA want. If you'll take it however you get it, they can keep treating people who make what you love as expendable.

kotaku.comWhat Does It Even Mean To ‘Save’ Mass Effect? - KotakuThousands of fans are rallying around a campaign to save the series after BioWare's shutdown, but what does that look like?

If you were wondering HOW historically inaccurate Elon Musks "historically accurate" grok generated video version of the odyssey could possibly be? This thread is for you. Nome gives up (rightly) on the countless AI glitches (they're not hallucination) & just goes to town on the anachronisms 🫡

Literally the first shot of this "historically accurate" Odyssey movie shows a boat that A) Has no steering oar. B) Is under full sail *and* full rowers while entering a cave, presumably to dock inside.

It's funny how the Defenders of Western Civilization really want Odysseus to be this heroic patriarchal figure when he is canonically kind of a dirtbag.

These are not Bronze Age Greek Ships. The curving thing, that they want to put at the front and back of the ship? That should only be at the back. What these are, instead, are bronze age Nordic longboats.

i've been talking a lot lately about fairy tales and darkness and childhood and the dangers of sanitized storytelling and it sort of feels like this movie was made to test my commitment to the bit 😂

It genuinely does suck and is *bad* that it feels like there’s almost nowhere to go for people who 1. Want to work on robotics (like drones) and 2. Don’t want to build weapons.

What’s remarkable here isn’t just the sentiment, which is obviously weird and depressing, but that a media trained executive who has been doing interviews for decades thought this was an anecdote that would land well.

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.
