I did my live reading of The Body Snatcher at Geeky Teas yesterday, and I felt great about it. Friends, can I tell you how wonderfully surprising it was to feel the entire house connected to me and the story for the entire time?

...I noticed that I felt genuinely and safely proud of myself, excited to do more work like this, confident and secure in myself as an artist.
I made a mixtape (playlist). This week's It's Storytime With Wil Wheaton is The Loneliness of Former Constellations, by P.H. Low, originally published in Strange Horizons. I have two live shows happening in Los Angeles, both with limited tickets.
This week's It's Storytime With Wil Wheaton is a sweet, queer story about that awkward, tentative, uncertain time when, maybe, something is different, something is changing, something is awakening, and it all feels like a smear of toothpaste.
There are more actual humans subscribed to my blog posts than the stupid algorithm shows my posts to on Threads. If I have something to important to share, however brief, I'll say it here.
Today, I just wanted to share a couple things that I'm excited about. I hope you'll get excited about them, too.
"Hey, check this out," seems to have migrated over to social media, so it feels a little ... vestigial? ... to do one of those posts, but I want to post something, and the story I'm working on isn't ready, so here are some links.
I have an essay in this month's Uncanny Magazine, called Being A Brief History of It's Storytime With Wil Wheaton! I requested payment in a paper check, so I can frame it, since it's the first time I've been paid the professional rate for an essay.
It's been a brutal couple of days for me and my fellow Gen X theater kids. We've lost two load-bearing icons, and I feel like we could all use a big hug in the Denny's parking lot after the show.
Felicia Day and I are getting the band back together for a new show about the games (and some other things) we love, and you can help make it happen.
A funny and fun thing happens when I put the robe on. Without meaning to, I stand up as straight as I can, and I feel legitimately cool. As Lester Bangs says in Almost Famous, "Oh, dude, they made you feel cool, and you are not cool."
It feels like it was about 18 months ago, but could be as long as three years ago, that my friend told me about a TV show he was developing. It was a brilliant idea, I thought. A science fiction action comedy? YES PLEASE.
In the early 2000s, I worked on a couple of movies that were direct-to-DVD, low budget versions of successful, big budget movies of the moment. They weren't high art, but they were so much fun. This is a story about one of them.
I went to the mall and I wrote about it.
I was grateful for it, because choosing to experience grief instead of avoiding it with anger was a big time goal, something I worked really hard to accomplish.

Listening to @wilwheaton.netβs Storytime podcast read of Andrea Chapelaβs βAs One Listens to the Rainβ was especially cool after visiting Mexico City in March. I think it conjured last nightβs lighting storm that shook the sleeping house.
I am coming to your computer (or your tablet or your phone or even your TV, I think) on June 7 for a virtual convention that needs a much better name than Couch Con, because at this moment in time, that's ... uh ... not what this is.

Dems are polling crazy high based on the flaming catastrophe that is Republican fascist rule, so primarying as many of the bad weak complicit Democrats in favor of good determined angry ones has rarely if ever been more crucial
Yes, I want to see most or perhaps all of these scumbags in prison. But I gotta be honest: I look at the Democratic Party and I don't see more than a handful of people with the integrity and fortitude to make that happen.
I loved narrating this story. It's just wonderful, and offered a ton of opportunities for me to make big creative choices. I am so grateful that @thisisguan.bsky.social trusted me with their words.

Obama: I'd love a Republican Party that wasn't constantly tapping into our worst impulses, and there has been a Republican Party like that in the past and I want to see that return @wilwheaton.net: wtf are you talking about
I want to take a moment and say thank you for all the messages of comfort and support that so many of y'all have shared with me since Marlowe passed. I haven't ever felt this kind of grief, for this long, in my life before now.
I wonder if anyone else will feel the same way? wilwheaton.net/podcast/

Trust in national media: 28%. 75% of local newsrooms: gone. Billionaires buying what's left. My own Dem congressman wouldn't take a stand against Trump's Fed Chair pickβa man in the Epstein files 500+ times. Not one Illinois paper has touched the story. This is why independent media exists.

For the record: The Washington Post is run by partisan hacks who think we won't remember that they took the *exact* opposite stance when it was Republicans pushing their own gerrymandering grab in Texas last year -- *without* putting it up for a vote.
For the record: The Washington Post can go fuck itself. Support pro-democracy media that doesn't have its head stuck up Donald Trump's ass. bit.ly/4qmEiFz

Seeing my name beside these authors and I'm trying to be sooo normal about it π³ Really appreciate this shout out to my story that came out in @uncannymagazine.bsky.social. while not my usual dark horror bag, this was more me exploring cultural grief and the inevitably of your loved ones passing.
