An engineer (IT). Born in USSR, living in Ireland. Putin&Trump are the enemies of the just and peaceful world. Trying to make humble contributions to counteract here and there; e.g. I volunteered to help evacuate people from Kharkivshchyna in 2022-03.

Tesla's Q3 revenues of $28 bn were flat year over year (Automotive -3% YoY). Net Income of $787 mn was down 43% from a year ago. Operating margins fell to 2.6% from 5.8% a year ago. Free cash flow of $1.5 bn was down 62% YoY due to a spike in capital expenditures (up 110% YoY to $4.7 bn)

I think I'm losing the ability to grasp this reality... How the f it happened that now the whole Internet is temporary broken due to something predicted as a joke on xkcd?

I wish Westerners cared about Ukrainian people as much as they care about Palestinian.

Despite Trump using it as the excuse for the US to protect Putin's oil industry, yet more confirmation that diesel prices have zero correlation with diesel prices.

Google searches for health disinformation plunged after Ukrainian strikes on Russian data centers. How much “turbo cancer” & ivermectin nonsense is fueled by Russian bots, and how many Americans have they killed? Bots spread disinformation. Humans search for it. When bots go down, so do searches.

Data centers vs. everything else. Meanwhile, Connecticut and Massachusetts are stuck with massive housing shortages and some of the highest costs of living in the country.

And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

All three Yandex AI supercomputers are reportedly offline: Galushkin in Vladimir, Chervonenkis and Lyapunov in Sasovo, whose data center shut down after the Oct 8 strike. Yandex Cloud outages also threaten thousands of Russian firms relying on it for websites, databases and payments 👏

I feel like it is time to declare the step #1 complete.

Pure speculation, but it feels like this is our future: * Trump's adventure in middle east would finally explode oil/gas prices. * Global economy would slow-down, but also inflation will go up. As a result of the inflation, key rates will be increased in most of the advanced economies. * ... [1/3]

On "AI" subject: Decision models like Jev seem like something to keep an eye on (along side "world models" like JEPA). Both are trying to be closer to direct semantic processing of "what to do", instead of being "chat bots". Jev seems to already solve some tasks hundreds times cheaper than LLMs.

Just in case: I **still** cannot internalize that.

I still cannot internalize that the US could be that stupid... Every time I hear Trump speaking, I just cannot comprehend how stupid a human being must be to voluntarily elect that, despite freedom of speech and decent quality of life. Cannot get rid of the thought that the humanity is doomed.

Wage growth in immigrant-heavy sectors has not increased with immigration enforcement. States with more ICE arrests have instead seen slower wage growth in construction and hospitality.

Following weeks of White House attacks on Canadians as "perfidious" and "nasty people," amplified by extended smear campaigns on Rupert Murdoch TV, Republicans have started to hate Canadians.

One reason so many people mistake emotion for thought may be that the language surrounding public life has shifted away from evidence, logic, and verification—and toward feeling, belief, and emotional instinct. Research on millions of books shows that this reversal accelerated after 2007.
