I don’t the there’s necessarily anything wrong with like Pintrest moodboard curation or like Tumblr aesthetic blogger type stuff, but I do think there’s a kind of person who almost uses that fixation on aesthetics as like a fetish and is detached from the messy, uncurated way the real world works.

One aspect of Fascist thought that I feel like people don’t pick up on because it is also American culture is the way that there is often an aesthetic fixation on some idealized experience or concept which serves as a guiding ideology separate from reality. Like I’m thinking of moodboards like this.

I know this is odd but I actually really like how german sounds. There’s just sort of a pleasing rhythm to it as a language. The grammar is pretty interesting and unique. I also do think that compound words as a feature of the language is cool and useful even though it can be unwieldy.

just remembered that the Windows "Close Window" shortcut is Alt F4 and I wonder how many windows noobs using like Vista or XP were dunked on by suggesting that as a keyboard shortcut to solve [X] problem in tech forums and imageboards because of how unintuitive that keyboard scheme is

After interacting with more people from different backgrounds through my job, I have kinda started to realize why people talk about generational/class/race/sexuality/etc. differences and the way that changes how you navigate workplace tasks/conflicts.

Specifically: before this job, I had primarily worked in food service or a working class office setting (think like data entry/customer support). Actually working with people who are like boomers or gen x and/or have money made me realize I had mostly worked with poor gen x–zoomers before lol

All this to say, I don’t really believe there’s like as much of an accurate generalization to be made about generational differences. Like, I am a millennial cusp but I grew up with primarily just midwest gen x and boomer evangelical christian culture from my parents. But it all makes a fella wonder

Imo if you are in a position where there is a healthcare provider in your area that could prescribe hormones, you not going on HRT is a conscious choice and not a default. Like if you hate the way estrogen effects your body/mood/etc but won’t start HRT then you’re choosing to be on estrogen.

In all likelihood your body is producing hormones in a statistical range aligning with the gender you were assigned at birth, and as you continue to age that hormone profile will continue to change your body further down that direction. If you don't like the hormones your mom gave you, get your own!

Remember on Tumblr in like 2015 and people would do numbers with posts like this lmao

(bravely) the Cracker Barrel redesign was fine. The way it was used throughout their products, ads, and menus was pretty good. The work arm/logo had some unnecessary padding but it was actually fine. Lol

Once when I was 16, I was feeling really shitty and so I put on some headphones to play “My Body is a Cage” by Arcade Fire and closed my eyes to cool off. Issue is, I didn't know the room was so quiet and the music could be so clearly heard by others, so everyone just saw me crying to Arcade Fire.

Posting this so it no longer has any power over me. I don’t remember what incited this but I had a really hard time as a teenager so I was probably justified in being really sad, it just haunts me that everybody heard me put on a song loudly as I like sobbed. That’s usually more of a private thing.

Fondly remembering the first “trans affirming” therapist I had, an any/all pronouns cis woman who, when I brought up the steps I needed to take to access certain surgeries, immediately went into a spiel about how not wanting bottom surgery is totally valid and my body is perfect.

cozy@bimbotheory.bsky.social

Notice how this fully anti-trans detransition therapy rhetoric is so functionally similar to the "you're valid no matter what, you don't have to transition to be trans" rhetoric that we have all inculcated ourselves to?

The term “midwest” is funny to me because it doesn’t make sense outside of a specific period of like US expansion/colonialism where that region was between “the west” and the colonies. Imo Midwest should be like, the Utah/Colorado/Wyoming region and Mideast should be what we now call the Midwest.

The way people will show you what they actually think about trans people and how much they actually value your presence in their life when you start hormones or get surgery and need support/community will always stick with me lol. I lost like 4 friends leading up to bottom surgery

As in, who is actually willing to support you/be understanding and not dismiss you as demanding or crazy if you have some complex feelings or new considerations. Who will see past their own hangups around transsexuals and treat you with respect/value your autonomy. It forces everything to come out.

Another thing that, in my experience, will get people to reveal what they actually think: seeing how people react to finding out that I have been out for about ~18 years despite being 29 years old. Watch them do the math lol. If they wanna see “before” pictures or get into trans kid discourse, well,

My boys Blixa and Lux, who are brothers and are in love but it’s not weird, will be turning 5 this weekend. Please clap.

I think the great irony of Bauhaus/Modernism is that it succeeded on an aesthetic level for like evil mega corporations and imperialist governments but not on its principles of better, accessible, mass-produced design, architecture, and art. Similar argument for Russian Constructivism imo.

Like the way that Helvetica became what US tax forms are set in, Futura was heavily utilized for Nazi propaganda, and Constructivism was discarded in favor of Socialist Realism kinda makes that point. It literally worked, but not with any kind of principles or philosophy attached to it.

I keep going back and forth about whether I like this redesign lol, like it has just been stuck in my mind ever since I saw it. Their website is pretty cool though and definitely suits the style nicely. The new logo flips if you switch the site to Welsh, making the English upside down wno.org.uk

(thinking out loud) I don’t know that there is a true, actual identity we all perfectly hold internally that will be constant regardless of place/time/material conditions. That’s gender essentialism. It’s always an interplay of society/culture that an individual contextualizes themselves within.

I think of it being more like personality. Somebody may have some kind of abstract inclinations or tendencies but what that actually means as you navigate the world is informed by your experiences and what is normalized, treated antagonistically, and encouraged in your society idk.

What are some horror movies from the past 10 years or so that you perverts (positive) recommend for me to watch? Asking because lean towards mostly watching older horror as it aligns more with my personal tastes, but I assume there’s cool stuff being made now that I just don’t know about.

Jordan Peele, Robert Eggers, Julia Ducournau, and “Red Rooms” by Pascal Plante are the directors/films I have really engaged with much with regards to horror from the 2010s/2020s for context, so anything other than those would be very cool.

The PTO I scheduled for next week calling out to me like the angelic choirs as I approach the light of heaven rn

Can't write bad code if nobody sees it. Sort of a “tree falls in the forest” situation.

Man I thought DHH was well known as a loser from when Ruby on Rails was in it's heyday. It's crazy seeing him being both still around and influential. I know talking about fascists makes them seem more legitimate but I just gotta say wtf is with all these open source freaks still being known lol
