Not to discount this observation because it's true, but in addition, I learned this year 2026 that in some regions of the country black coffee means black coffee with sugar.

If you ask for black coffee and the cashier asks if you want cream or sugar I promise it's not because the cashier thinks you're stupid or because the cashier is stupid. It's because the cashier regularly has to deal with people who ask for "black coffee" and then complain there's no cream or sugar

Great day hiking Mt Wachusett yesterday, but don't believe the leaf forecasting. Nowhere near peak in Central MA outside of the swampy lowlands, probably still 10+ days out. Caught a view of home though 50 miles out.
