The more I see from the Trump disadministration, the more convinced I am that we are in the _dumbest_ timeline. So let's play a game. Try to predict the dumbest course of action moving forward and see how well your prediction fares. To qualify, predictions MUST include a deadline date. I'll start.

According to the Consti-fucking-tution, it absolutely does.

Hey @bsky.app , you're actively alienating the people who made your platform function to begin with, and you aren't big enough to chop your roots off. Why disallow these links? Why not moderate your platform to ensure they aren't being abused instead?

The first Gen AI ad I saw that showed a use case scenario was a person had to read a screenplay and then didn't, so they trick the person they're meant to do this for into thinking they did. The entire purpose of this technology is to trick people and it turns out no one likes being tricked.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

When the far-right complains about "political prosecution", it's telling how they react when it actually happens.

Barack Obama just delivered a blistering rebuke of Trump's actions against Ilhan Omar. This is worth reading in full.

According to the 14th Amendment, this guy is our rightful president. 😬

JD Vance: "I love you too sir. In a totally platonic way, to be clear. I'm the vice president, not James Talarico."

Oh good. YouTube has decided to shunt everything of import on video pages into a sidebar on the right side of the page. I have a recommendation for YouTube. Next time you decide to make these big, sweeping changes to people's watch experience for no reason, DON'T. Or at least let us opt out.

Maybe a hashtag and a full screenshot will help remedy this intentional idiocy, or at least to highlight the problem. #YouTupid Check the alt text for more detail.

If you haven't seen #CoyoteVsAcme yet, DO SO SOON! It's about to leave cinemas! If you even have a passing interest in Looney Tunes, see this movie! It's well worth your time!

I truly, deeply, sincerely do think the guy flipping burgers at McDonalds should be able to afford rent, bills, and groceries with his paycheck alone. That's kind of the whole point of having a job and I can't believe this is considered a radical position.🤷🏽‍♀️

This thread sums things up pretty well.

People get confused about the trans sports thing because at a glance it seems like a small issue that impacts a very small number of people and thus makes sense as a "reasonable" concession. But it isn't, because conceding that is accepting that a kid's trans identity is on some level fraudulent

If you care so little for your video/book/game/art that you have AI make part of it for you (even if it's "just" the thumbnail/cover/box art), I'm not watching/reading/playing/bothering with it. Art is a human endeavor, and there is no intentionality or discovery in AI generation.

Absolutely go and see this movie in cinemas. It's rare I watch a movie at all, let alone in a cinema, and this was well worth the exception. Beep beep.

The fact that the Road Runner going “meep meep” was enough to bring half a theater (including myself AND my wife) to tears should be all the evidence you need that #CoyoteVSAcme is well-loved. Go see it. Be part of the force that tells the megacorps that we understand what makes a movie worthwhile.

Still haven't found a wheelchair accessible apartment and I've been spending thousands per week on hotel fees just to stay housed and off the street. My account has overdrafted many times this week alone despite everything Please help me stay alive givebutter.com/keep-a-disable…

I'm freaking out. At rock bottom and am probably going to have to resort to sex work just to eat and be housed. I personally feel uncomfortable with the idea, but it's the last idea I have since I've been told by multiple doctors I physically can't work givebutter.com/keep-a-disab...

1. If you did or touched something gross and are moving to a less-gross activity, WASH YOUR DAMN HANDS. Most gross: anything involving human waste ↓ ↓ ↓ Least gross: eating. Even if you only peed, WASH. You drip and fart into your gitch, and then you get that on your hands when you pee.

1 (addendum). Going from eating to anything else should also prompt another wash. That grease/powder/juice/etc. doesn't need to get into your controller/keyboard/book/couch/pool/homework/etc., does it?

Profit motive: Paper refills, foot-levers, and door reversals cost money. Inertia: It's easier in the moment to keep things as they are. Red tape: Corporate rarely listens to front-line workers or customers. Space: Restroom doors aren't always in a place where they CAN swing outward.

We can voice our displeasure at this, but it's unlikely to change. What we CAN do is mitigate the grossness. Before going into any public restroom, I recommend having a napkin or two in your pocket, so you can grab the handle without touching it. Of course this only matters if you WASH YOUR HANDS.

Too many public restrooms are set up with the worst configuration possible: → Door opens inward and is stubborn. → No paper towels. → No foot-lever. Changing any ONE of these points would make the bathroom hygienically usable, so why don't they?

There are likely many parts, all working in tandem. Optics: They want to appear environmentally friendly, so they opt for air dryers. Ignorance: They don't know how handwashing works or that foot-levers exist. Apathy: Nobody cares.

3. After you wash, you still have soap on your hands. Don't eat that. An air dryer can only remove the soap that's trapped in the water that it can blow off your hands. The water that evaporates leaves its soap behind. Towels (including paper) actually scrape the soap off.

4. After you've managed to dry your hands in a public restroom, DO NOT TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE. Doing so undoes your handwashing several times over. Use your foot/elbow or a paper towel to open the door instead. If there are no paper towels and the door opens in, you might need to get creative.

2. When you wash, USE SOAP. Water alone does basically nothing. In fact, bacteria and viruses tend to like that stuff. Soap dismantles the cohesion of bacteria's cell membranes and viruses' lipid envelopes. Hand sanitizer is less effective, doesn't remove grime, and should be a last resort.
