Saw an electronic billboard urging people to vote for Sherrod Brown (Dem candidate for Senate in OH) on SB I-275 near DTW, which is in MI around 35 miles north of the OH border.

This story is about a Republican candidate for U-M Regent.

Newly obtained police records and bodycam footage reveal blood, broken fingernails, drugs, cat-print pajamas, and Lena Epstein talking politics while being led away in handcuffs at the Grand Hotel. She was never charged.   www.metrotimes.com/news/booze-b...

I applied for a job at Braintree once. Fortunately I received a better offer from another company and I took that instead.

I’ve been using @fastmail.com for several years now and like it. They are an Australian (so not US-based) privacy-focused company that is run by people who are apparently not awful.

Wow, giving retired workers financial security made them active participants in the economy, and taking that security away made them retreat from spending, clearly the solution is to convince all the individual retirees to pretend their individual, exhaustible savings are perpetual income

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

This Day in Labor History: October 24, 1975. Women in Iceland went on a one-day strike to protest both the unequal pay conditions they faced in the country and men’s refusal to recognize the reproductive labor they did at home. This is the largest protest in Iceland's history! Let's talk about it!

COVID 💉✅ Flu 💉✅ Sometimes these things don’t bother me at all, other times they lay me very low for a day or two. I’ll know soon which it will be.

Suddenly interested in moving to Montana.

wait a democrat is polling +3 in montana’s congressional race and he is a smokejumper that looks like this? why has no one told the thirsty masses?

So this arrived in the mail today. It just showed up, I did not order it. Judging from the blurb and chapter titles, it is a Christian nationalist publication. Some chapter titles: - God’s Law Immutable - Enmity Between Man and Satan - God’s People Delivered I have no intention of reading it.

It’s… interesting being an older white gay man. On the one hand, as a white guy I have one foot in the dominant culture and swim in a sea of privilege I barely perceive. On the other hand, as a gay man I am constantly reminded that I am an outsider to the dominant culture and don’t really belong.

BREAKING: Trump's head of FEMA just told states to prepare to handle disasters on their own. The Trump admin's disaster chief told state officials they must increase their financial reserves and emergency capabilities to handle most disasters on their own — without federal help.

Given the reaction to the exchange between El-Sayed and Tommy, it seems like the Teepells made a $250K in-kind donation to El-Sayed’s campaign.

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

Huge follow-up reporting to my scoop: The Guardian confirmed America Next—the conservative nonprofit founded by Bobby Jindal that was offering students $ to disrupt El-Sayed events—paid a firm registered to Tommy Teepell’s dad Timmy $250k for “canvassing and influencer marketing” against El-Sayed.

It must be a Southern thing to use the diminutive version of your name: Timmy and Tommy Teepell, Tommy Tuberville, Jimmy Carter, Bobby Jindal, etc. What’s up with that?
