I was honored to do some of the early playtesting for Escape from Wonderland, and i like it a lot. It has a nice balance between open storytelling and some intense and unique gameplay mechanics. If you like TTRPGs, i definitely recommend getting it when it's out, and/or trying the new beta now!

Hi! We have been super not active on Bluesky 1. Because we’re bad at it & 2. Because we’ve been working on the public beta rules for our uncanny horror game, Escape from Wonderland. They’re ready! Read! Play! We’d love feedback and are thrilled to finally share them. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

This has been a labor of love! What started as a small game hack has expanded over two years into a 200-page horror tome with a TON of moving pieces. It's our most ambitious game and it's not done, but this is a milestone. It's creepy and unsettling and I hope folks will read and play it!

the nicest thing you can wish upon an artist in 2026 is that their work gains a small but dedicated cult following of kind hearted and politically shrewd weirdos & sickos that keep the fire going. the meanest thing you can wish upon an artist in 2026 is that their work gains a large online fandom

Tabletop RPGs don't really have a rating system (RPGGeek?). But in terms of games that I FEEL are still underrated -- compared to how awesome and influential they've been to me! -- I'm gonna go with @turtlebun.com's "14 Days" and/or "Birds Are Amazing." They live in my brain permanently.

Hear me out... Univerally praised games are neat enough, but nothing hits quite like something unpopular that speaks to *you*. So show-and-tell: Link and Explain a game that's UNDERRATED (sub-500 user reviews), UNDERRATED (sub 80% score) or BOTH (ideally!) that is near and dear to your heart.

Join us for an online playtest of Escape from Wonderland! We're running a four-session campaign on the following dates: Sunday 3/1, 12pm Thursday 3/5, 6pm Sunday 3/15, 12pm Saturday 3/21, 6pm (all times in EST) Send us a DM or reply if you're interested and available!

Hell yea we did!

We just celebrated a milestone—episode 100 of Design Doc! “The Realest Place on Earth” is a two-hour special chronicling our attempt to playtest a roleplaying game at Six Flags and all the ways it failed miserably, and some actually good game design it resulted in! open.spotify.com/episode/0nTC...

We brought Wonderland to a real-life theme park! In the latest episode of Design Doc, we talked about how to take tabletop rules off the table. What needs to be simplified, what can be dropped, and what should we wear?

The latest Design Doc is about epilogues! How do you end a game on the best possible note, while also letting the players pick the tune? Is it unbearable to introduce new rules at the end of a long session? Why do games need to end, anyway??

The latest Design Doc is out! This one is about a troublesome playtest. We had an extra player, which complicated things—but was that the only culprit? Listen wherever you get your podcasts! Or click one of the links below.

The latest Design Doc is about pacing in TTRPGs! We talk about session counts, story arcs, and how to linger on the best moments. You can listen to Design Doc wherever you download podcasts!

Our latest episode of Design Doc is about rewarding players with information. When making rules for intangible rewards, it's tough to make sure they'll match the mood at the table. We discuss and do some designing on the fly! Out now in all the podcast places 💡

This week's Unbundled game is Damn the Man, Save the Music!, a TTRPG about working at a struggling record store in the 90s by @turtlebun.bsky.social

In this new year, I'll be writing something I'm calling Unbundled. If you buy even a few TTRPG bundles, you end up with a lot of games, and even if you're a very dedicated player you're unlikely to get to all of them. I'll be going through each of my bundle games and writing a bit about them.

You are up to date.
