I've added a new feature to Transit Explorer—the database of the world's fixed-guideway transit systems: The ability to compare cities, side by side, at the same scale. Here, for example, is Washington vs. Chicago, and Singapore vs. London! Play around: www.thetransportpolitic.com/transitexplo...

There is perhaps no car manufacturer more than Volkswagen where Germany’s erratic approach to electrification is having a greater impact.
4) There are no plans for a HSR stop around Jumeirah and no interchange stations between the HSR and conventional line. Dubai's 2nd stop will be located near the Expo City, which likely means the new Al Maktoum Airport won't be served directly (but either via the Red Line or dedicated people mover).
Oh, correction: The new airport is supposed to be served by... an entirely new line? Some sort of Crossrail that connects the old and the new airport, while also hitting downtown, seemingly using the same corridor as the HSR line? But wasn't the old airport supposed to be shut down?
1) A detailed alignment of the new "Gold Line". A sizeable chunk of the plan isn't necessarily geared towards serving current demand, but towards increasing the value of planned real estate developments...

NYC bus speeds are up 5% since automated enforcement of illegal parking and standing in bus stops and bus lanes for more than five minutes began, though the share of license plates that are unreadable by cameras has risen from 7% in 2024 to 17% in Q1 2026 gothamist.com/news/the-mta...
A few more pictures of the new underpass. A lot of energy was spent to prevent car users from ever taking it "by accident". A curb modal filter on the western entrance, traffic lights, and the bus lanes narrow to a single lane under the tracks. @chittimarco.bsky.social
A new bus, bike and pedestrian only underpass opened today in the southern suburbs of Bolzano/Bozen, part of a project to build a new railway station to serve the airport and S. Giacomo/St. Jakob neighborhood The underpass will provide a shortcut for buses, avoiding long detours to cross the tracks

We don't realize how radically different (and overall better) intercity rail travel is today in many European countries compared to before WWII, which is generally considered the peak of the railway era. trains per day, Milano-Roma (one direction) 1938 = 18 tomorrow = 91 five times more
