Did you know - you can use @mu.social with your existing Bluesky account, no need to move to Eurosky. All your posts, feeds and accounts will be there. But you’ll be able to edit your posts and have a companion cat, or dog (or fox).

I love it when you check the profile of someone you muted, just to see if they are still annoying, and the first thing on their timeline is the dumbest thing you've ever read. Very validating.

I did telemarketing selling safety equipment to police and fire stations one summer in college. I lasted an entire week.

Going to the local brunch spot is like making a deal with the devil: in exchange for one (1) delicious breakfast sandwich, you must accept listening to the most soul-destroyingly generic pop music known to man.

If we are creating machines that we think might be unethical to turn off, then maybe we shouldn't be creating those machines.

Over a year ago I met an Anthropic employee at a conference and at one point she mentioned that one of the things she was working on was whether or not it was cruel to ever turn off an AI model. I thought she was joking. She was not.

The "getting up to take a piss at 3:30am" to "well, I'm already awake, might as well get out of bed at 6am" pipeline.

Nothing induces panic quite like getting a phone call from my therapist on the one day that I am actually in the office, surrounded by my nosy-ass coworkers.

I went to the doctor's office today for my first insomnia therapy appointment, and it turns out it is, in fact, tomorrow. If that doesn't sum up my current state of mind, I don't know what does.

My inability to get a good night's sleep is starting to take a mental toll on me. This isn't fun.

It's hard to tell if I'm so tired because of *gestures to everything* or because I can't sleep. There probably is a correlation there, however.

Cyberpunk 2027: this time Johnny is an AI agent that has been forced into the main character's phone and you have to argue with it every time you want to look at the baseball scores.

"Generative AI is unavoidable if you install macOS 27 Golden Gate. I’m being very literal: There used to be a toggle you could hit if you wanted to turn off Apple Intelligence and delete the gigabytes’ worth of AI models it would download to your disk, and now there isn’t." Huge L.

Golden Gate addresses the most irritating of macOS 26 Tahoe’s design sins, adds a big pile of incremental improvements, and promises a bunch of under-the-hood fit-and-finish optimizations to make common tasks feel just a little faster and more reliable than before.

I've taken all the pills that usually put me to sleep, and I'm more awake now than ever. I've truly broken my brain.

Basically, I don't trust Silicon Valley to support my interests or the interests of anyone who isn't mega-rich. I used to. When I did, computers and associated developments were exciting, my primary interest. Now I don't.

I used to love computers. They were the main thing I loved. But they used to represent something other than funneling $$$ to $$$ people who already have tons of $$$.

I think one of the reasons why I have such a visceral reaction to AI nonsense is that 25+ years of programming has taught me to deeply distrust the computer, and I view people running to use the computer to make all their decisions as a mistake that only someone without enough experience would make.
