I remember when we kicked off this effort years ago. The words "style guide discussion" did not spark joy for me, but now I understand why finishing it was important. I'm impressed by the persistence and patience it took, most of all from Manish.

I helped develop this; getting consensus between many different groups. It's quirky in a bunch of ways and most of them have to do with specific goals the style guide has unique to its circumstances. Don't necessarily copy it.

congrats to Pete! I expect great things.

proud to share that I was selected to serve on the Rust Project Leadership Council! my role's to represent the interests of the top-level Language team, and all sub-teams =)

secretly wishing to be targeted to fulfill my self image as a "prominent rustacean"

Rust Language@rust-lang.org

⚠️ We believe that there is an ongoing campaign targeting owners of popular crates and rust-lang team members that is attempting to compromise devices and accounts in order to use them to publish malware. See our blog post for details: blog.rust-lang.org/2026/09/17/t...

What if our ears were like our eyes, and only had three (types of) receptors? Interestingly speech is still more or less intelligible, but not much else to me this shows how much more discriminating of frequencies our hearing is than our vision. Of course our vision has much more spatial resolution

chaos from bouncing a ball in a circle- at each point, I simulate a bunch of futures with slightly different velocities- showing how predictable the system would be with measurement error. The system seems to move between Stable Eras and Chaotic Eras, where it is hard to predict four bounces ahead

We lowered the ticket prices for RustWeek! Individual tickets are now 199 instead of 249 euro. ✨ Additionally, we added a checkbox for an extra 100 euro discount, bringing the ticket price to just 99 euros for those who can't afford the full price. 💛

Today I sold a car directly, without a dealer. I have now breached adulting ego death and ascended to adulting unity consciousness

jj is cool, but the base CLI seems more like a "workflow development kit" than an actual workflow people use. it is great for this - it exposes very powerful primitives! I just don't see it becoming the industry standard without more established bright line workflows

primitives like changes as documents, automatic rebasing, good options for manual rebasing, conflict management. all good stuff, and I will continue using it.

this is based on my limited experience using it for a classic GitHub pull request workflow with named bookmarks, so ymmv. please tell me what I'm missing / cool stuff that will change my experience with it!

Looking forward to this one!

Speaker Spotlight: @tylermandry.bsky.social Staff SWE @ Google On Sept 10, Tyler will speak about bridging the gap b/w built-in Rust pointers & smart pointers to enable safer ergonomic systems programming. Schedule: rustconf2026.sched.com/event/2KHu8 Register: bit.ly/4eUTQ1g #rustconf #rustlang

so many interactions that remind me how much people care about being in a healthy community together. it's important on a deeper level than the technical stuff and also a prerequisite to it.

I'm really excited for this talk, and looking forward to seeing ppl at RustWeek next week!

hate it when programs present you with a text input and it's NOT READY FOR YOU TO TYPE IN — like wdym?? I'm a meatbag full of water! You're a monster running at 4.5 GHz!!! How am I waiting on you!

A huge thanks to Michael for the staggering amount of high quality work you did in the compiler. I'm sad we couldn't keep you working on Rust, but I know you'll be great at the next thing.

Today’s my last day at AWS working on the Rust compiler. Unfortunately, back in July I received notice that I had to choose between moving to Boston from NYC, or leaving the company due to RTO policy. I unfortunately couldn’t abandon the city I plan on being my long term home.

I'm excited to talk about the future of Rust/C++ interop @rustconf.com with Taylor Cramer!
