Congrats on the launch—tiling on macOS can really help if you juggle terminals and charts. Tip: start with 2–3 core layouts and a few hotkeys, then expand once it feels natural.

This looks awesome. Will try it out. Just based on looking the default config I think what probably will keep me on yabai are stacked windows and selective disabling of windowing based on the window title. But maybe something that can be contributed :)

Yeah I would definitely accept contributions on the second, feel free to open an issue and we can discuss. I'm not sure what is meant by stacked windows, it sounds like a feature Glide has (I think briefly shown in the video) but maybe slightly different.

It uses n-ary trees like sway/i3 instead of bsp so you can have e.g. 3 column layouts. No functionality depends on disabling SIP. Newer project so less functionality overall.

ooo 3 column layout is nice! Honestly the most important feature to me is a keyboard shortcut to send a window to space by number. Yabai’s implementation works perfect BUT it requires disabling SIP so it’s a non-starter on my work laptop :( Frustrating that Apple doesn’t make the apis public

Came here from the rift readme, what's the relationship with that project? Rift's readme says it was forked from glide but was launched 3 months before? What gives? 😅

I wish I knew! The maintainer forked the codebase without talking to me, committed all the code under their name, and then announced it on HN.

Ok good to know! I'm new to tiling wms and have been using rift, I'll definitely give glide a try. Rift currently has a bug for me that's super annoying where raycast capslock hyperkey can't be bound in the settings
