One of the benefits of working from home is that I can freely read the shit you people post out loud in order to verify that it makes as little sense as I think it does.

"Telling a story is not necessarily the goal of every TTRPG" is how you piss off casual players. "The Forge was wrong: even if telling a story IS a TTRPG's principal goal, the activities of play are not necessarily identical with the goals of play" is how you piss off people who blog about TTRPGs.

A lot of people get really upset when you tell them that “tell a story” is not a necessary goal of TTRPG play.

the cool thing about really basic fundamental stuff like "contact damage" is it's less a 'mechanic' in the modern sense and more an ideological lynchpin for the entire game. it's like talking about adding or removing auto-scrolling from a 2D shooter- two different genres emerge

flying cars are funny looking at where i live because under no circumstances should the average american be allowed to fly a micro plane. 2 million tiny 9/11s

it's simple: everyone on earth should make at least one game in bitsy, twine, puzzlescript, zzt, rpgmaker 2k/3, and pico-8. all of them have robust tooling, smart creative constraints, browser exports, and lively communities.

Really enjoying the contrast in feedback I'm seeing on "Eat God" between folks who are accustomed to comedy RPGs being one-page bits of fluff finding it absurdly rules-heavy and folks whose main point of reference on tabletop RPGs is tactical skirmish sims considering it basically freeform.

The C Programming Language@c-official.bsky.social

In C23 variables have pronouns and misgendering is undefined behavior. And no you can't just always use they, smartass. It literally won't compile

I'm never gonna get over the fact that the most popular bluesky labeler for which programming languages you like/use doesn't include C as an option.
