Vote, vote, vote. My wife and I filled out mail ballots and dropped them in a dropbox at the county building as soon as we could. Vote, vote, vote. It's so important this year. We can lose the rest of our Constitution if it's not a big blue wave. Make it too big to rig.

A RED STAR SHINES OVER BRAZIL! Lula is reelected! Brazilians managed to mobilize and beat Bolsonaro, Trump, Meta, Google, Netanyahu, media oligarchs, corrupt judges, fascism, imperialism, apathy and hatred! May this victory bring hope to all our comrades fighting across the world! We can beat them

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

I've seen enough. It's a Lulapalooza!

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

With 83% of the vote counted nationwide, Lula has stretched his lead to 2.8 million votes. That's a lead of 51.4% to 48.6%. That puts him on track for a victory that could be larger than his 1.8% win four years ago, which would be an immense comeback. He's even up in Minas Gervais now, by 0.6%.

From the story: "Is Vivek one of those 'really good people' that's on the ticket?," we asked the governor. After a long pause, DeWine said he wasn't referring to Ramaswamy.

That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.

I loved and miss my iPod.

📅 On this day in 2001 - 25 years ago: Apple released the iPod - '1,000 songs in your pocket'. Critics shrugged at a $399 MP3 player; it saved Apple and remade the music industry.

Solid story but crap headline ("It's Not Just Inflation") and lede ("Your parents may talk about how they scrimped in their 20s" in the 1980s). Of course it's inflation, that's the point of the story. And *I* was in my 20s in the 1980s. Am I not supposed to read this? www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Happy anniversary: On this date in 1973 was the Saturday Night Massacre—the firings or resignations of the Watergate Special Prosecutor, the AG and the Deputy AG. It triggered the impeachment investigation that ultimately led to Nixon’s resignation. This was back when some Republicans had integrity.

I've been noticing more news stories lately interpreting Trump statements with "by which he probably meant..." or "most likely referring to..." or some variant. Because he's too much of an idiot and too lazy to know or research what the fuck he's talking about ever.

Oct. 18, 1926: Chuck Berry, the rock ’n’ roll pioneer who embodied the genre’s rebellious spirit with his rapid-fire guitar, showmanship and songs of teen life, is born in St. Louis. After such ’50s classics as “Johnny B. Goode” and “Roll Over Beethoven” he recorded one No. 1 hit, “My Ding-a-Ling.”

I thought this was kind of interesting -- 100 years ago today. Stalin winning the eventually deadly battle with Trotsky and others for the Red succession to Lenin.

We're planning a public execution. We only admit white "refugees" from a former apartheid state. Our domestic security service uses white nationalist messaging. And the president routinely appears to encourage or endorse violence against his opponents & the media. Nothing subtle or complicated here.
