Kate Drwęcka 🦇

Hi #portfolioday! I’m Kate, a queer cartoonist & designer. I’m currently working on a gothic western comic about Baba Yaga, but generally enjoy making spooky (sometimes violent, sometimes spicy 🌶️) things. 🎨: www.katedee.com 🎥: www.twitch.tv/thisiskatedee 🔗: www.katedee.com/links/

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:

Handy list of FOSS (free open-source software) alternatives that don't use AI (or listing the last version without ai). Some of this might also be handy for art friends in terms of CMS or RSS stuff. codeberg.org/ethical-foss...

Planning a self portrait. Starting with a smaller scale drawing for a rough idea.

I decided to post 45 photos about the September 16 «All Out contre l'enfer de l'IA » manif that ended with the police brutalizing journalists. Please click with care, the images are not easy to look at. photos.gersande.com/la-manif-all...

Real ones remember downloading AMV(Anime Music Videos) like this in potato quality on shitty dialup in the year of our lord 1999

One of the first things I did when I decided to make a webcomic was to force myself to learn how to build and host my own website for it because I was afraid of hosting platforms like this shutting down cutting me from my audience. Hate to find out I was right.

Going to plug my website guide once again: blog.itsnero.com/webguide/ This will get you online with a website in an afternoon. It's not the fanciest or most modern way to do it, but it's code that has worked for decades. Get yourself a site ASAP and figure out what else you need to do later.

Yesterday on GODSLAVE: Pleaaase don’t tell on me :(

My photography (shaky as it is because I was so scared) and part of my witness testimony is in @therovermedia.bsky.social today. Please help circulate this letter. What I saw last Wednesday in terms of police intervention was completely excessive and frightening. therover.ca/open-letter-...

"If trans people want a boycott of The New York Times, where's the call to do so?" Here is a declaration laying out how the NYT is a key driver of trans genocide, why boycotts work and why anyone who gives a damn about trans lives and rights must boycott The New York Times.

This place is real, but it's also an amalgamation of memories. The way we remember a landscape can be very different from its literal appearance. Some things become larger and clearer, others smaller and fuzzier. 🧵
