Today is a heavy marking day and I am listening to that minidisc set from the Ok Computer era by Radiohead. It has a bunch of studio outtakes and live performances. I love it. The keyboard additions to many of these songs were so call. It's a fantastic document of the band. I am glad they leaked it.

Our school had both a Moodle and a Blog phase. Fucking Moodle!

I once worked at a university that gutted an entire (very popular and useful) learning center and replaced it with two guys who would teach you how to host blogs. every student had to have a blog. Every single one. Our syllabus had to mention blogs. We had to teach WITH blogs.

Oh, man. I read an email response to a customer service complaint I made earlier in the day out of order and I was moments away from firing off a very bitchy, snippy email which I would have been mortified to send. I have to remember the wise words of my son, "Dad, it's not that deep."

ICE claims that Araujo drove into one of their SUVs with his van and then tried to run over an agent. There were no marks on the van and KHOU11's Jeremy Rogalski found surveillance footage showing ICE chasing Araujo and cutting him off. Renee Good all over again.

I vaguely remember the US bicintennial and it all seemed very exciting. Looking back, even in the aftermath of Vietnam and Nixon's resignation, many people still felt proud and excited to be alive when this event was happening. I hate what is happening now.

The ideology in question is opposing fascism. This horrific action is a shot across the bow at all of us—everyone who cares about their neighbors, who dares to dream of a better world, who opposes ICE terror and authoritarian repression. We cannot allow the state to disappear them.

Judge O’Connor stated from the bench that he is giving maximum sentences to the Prairieland sentences because “the state wants to send a message to anyone who shares a similar ideology.”

I was going to be happy that the Mavs and Spurs fanbases were miserable right now, but fuck that. The pure joy of Knicks fans is actually good by itself.

A really sincere and almost mournful conversation about the decline of Wendy’s just popped up on my YouTube feed. Food *and* enshittification talk? The algorithm really does know me!

Notice to anyone who wants to comment that it's already too late: Fuck off. If you're not going to help, shut up and get out of the way. The rest of us are busy fighting for our freedom.

I love my wife with all my heart. For real. Today, for the 1st time, I am listening to early Split Enz. One of her favs. It's proggy prog! It occurs to me that my girl is in *such* fucking denial about her *own* Prog Proclivities. I if *I* have to wear the Scarlet P, then so. Does. She.

"the voters will have their say in the election" is an uninspiring and demoralizing response to a court overturning the result of an election

Spanberger: I am disappointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia’s ruling, but my focus as Governor will be on ensuring that all voters have the information necessary to make their voices heard this November in the midterm elections because in those elections we — the voters — will have the final say.

So, I just finished David Remnick's Lenin's Tomb since the end of empires is sort of relevant right and then I decided for a novel... something lighter? I just started Catherine Chidgey's Remote Sympathy...uh oh...not so light...At. All.

I grew up around people who seriously talked about the Book of Revelation and the end times and the anti-Christ and all that jazz. I also recall those apocalyptic Nostradamus quatrains in lousy documentaries floating around. (1)

The press will report the tip Trump gave her and the policy announcement and *never* comment on what a fucking disgrace it is that the elderly have to work gig jobs like this to keep their loved ones alive in the richest country on Earth. (9).

Today, the White House created a nominal feel good event where they touted a new policy that removed taxes on tips for gig workers and servers. So, cool, right? What's wrong with that? (7).

The White House order McDonald's on Doordash and had Sharon Simmons show up with the order as way to publicize the new policy. What we found out is that Simmons is a grandmother. She's working at fucking Doordash to pay her dying husband's medical bills. (8).

I was also emotional because the mission was a reminder that sometimes powerful empires like America can drive positive change for noble reasons. I was reminded that people of all backgrounds can work together on incredible and challenging projects and succeed. (5).

The contrast with that mission *right now* and much of the rotten state of the government and late stage capitalism just got to me and I am still processing it. (6).

I think AOC said this better already, but the level of depravity, evil, absurdity and cowardice on display by the most powerful people in America right now is only superseded by their immense fucking stupidity. (3)

Last night, I caught up with a lot of the media coverage of the Artemis II mission. I got emotional. It really *is* an incredible and undeniable leap for humanity. I marveled at the achievement, but also the real love and bravery of the people involved the mission. (4).

I never put much stock in that stuff, but you can't help but think those thoughts now that we have all this. What I never anticipated was how stupid this particular End of the World is. (2)

I got this robo mower a few weeks ago for my big ass yard and we have it slaving away at all hours. Pre-dawn, I was up and I fondly watched the mower make its progress up the hill in the same way I look at my children sometimes. I think my relationship with technology is out of wack!

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III and Britain. Donald Trump and his regime have committed at least 20 of those same offenses highlighted in yellow. #NoKings

I use my modest power as a media studies teacher to show them films I love like Rushmore. The older I get, the more emotional I get about stories like this which have heart along sass, set design and great soundtracks.

I've seen videos of two different crowds screaming "you're un-American pieces of shit" at ICE agents and while I'm not sure if that's going to work on a t-shirt, it definitely fits the moment
