i might be insane but i swear i recognise the VA for nurse harrow... i wanna say like. claudia black in farscape or nika futterman as ventress or something, but i'm not 100% sure

it's funny looking at projects with the claude file or whatever have comprehensive instructions on how exactly the repository is laid out, where to look for what, how to get started etc, knowing damn well there's almost no chance they would've ever done the same for new (human) contributors lol

like. i'm not saying every single project needs to have something like this, but i will say i find it funny it started happening once people had widespread access to chatbots nobody gives a fuck about guiding new contributors, unless it's a bot you can command to do your bidding, ig

played unbeatable [white label] and got hit with an intense feeling of needing to do something creative and collaborative so. i think that's a good thing?

suppose i got my answer sooner than expected lol

i hope one day toby and co do an interview about the development of deltarune's story. i think it'd be *really* interesting to know how much of it (and what) was planned ahead of time, and what effect (if any) the fandom has had on telling it

this + reading his interview thingy for chapter 5 has me surprised at just how much he's had planned out for these chapters i won't lie.. like he was being serious when he said he's had this idea for a while lol

it'd be nice if firefox didn't shunt you onto tabs you've explicitly unloaded sometimes :p like i already told you i wanna keep this around for later, not right now!!

this movie made more with less than the mandalorian and grogu lmfao, and that film was advertised to hell and back methinks this film was never *supposed* to succeed

Pixar has been hit the hardest on Disney’s round of layoffs. TheWrap reports that ‘Hoppers’ is partially being blamed for the layoffs as the film was shy of breaking even at the box office after making $389.5M against a $150M budget.

tangentially related in a way i'm struggling to attach: i think it'd be interesting if the metanarrative in particular was something that was almost a red herring. a means to comment on how the fandom has missed the forest for the trees as it were, ignoring the actual story for something "deeper"...

to be clear: i'm *not* expecting the game to go this way! i suspect there's a lot of things i don't know about that poke some pretty large holes in the idea; it's just something i think would be pretty interesting 🙂‍↕️

in particular i suspect that the fandom has not had a particularly outsized impact on the story, just because things seem a bit too cohesive for that.. like i think we'd have a lot more "shadow mantle big shots make the world revolving" type dialogue if that was the case lol

...that was never really there, not in any way that mattered. that people were so caught up in theorycrafting, they missed connecting with the *characters* and it'd be interesting if elements of fan theories ended up influencing that metanarrative. which would play into the whole thing of the...

...prophecy being this big unavoidable thing; it's not unavoidable necessarily because the game made it so, but because the *fandom* did. as my one friend says, "[we] built the sandwich", and we have to reckon with it

ik toby specifically has said he had the idea as a fever dream a number of years ago, but what *exactly* did that consist of? was it the framework of the story? or something simpler? (maybe this already exists somewhere i have no idea lol)

i suspect even this is considered easy (i've heard back in the day a misconfigured display driver could explode your CRT??), but damn. linux has *really* come a long way in the past 20 or so years lol

gotta love the "Am I Affected?" section on the copy fail website lmfao "you'll know if you're affected by whether or not you're affected. hope this helps 😊" like. no dates or kernel versions or anything..?

i think this might genuinely be the dumbest email i've ever received in my entire life what's the point of even *having* a reviews section if i can't look at it 😭

mastodon's UX is so infuriating. like why am i railroaded into loading a user's frontend 50% of the time i look at one of their posts? like. social media is just an interactive rss feed imo. your rss reader doesn't force you to use other rss readers to see content!!

honestly, this is where i'm at now :p i've carved windows, twitter, and (while a lower impact) chrome out of my life already. what's discord too? i'm not letting myself get too comfortable on platforms anymore. comfort is how people and platforms act with impunity, and i won't be part of that

I stopped trying to debate software developers on LLMs a while back. It's fruitless. Even if they could be budged on empirical grounds, they are explicitly fine with using tools that are themselves deeply unethical.

said it on twitter when they were first trying to do this, and i'll say it again here

dark patterns so egregiously awful it has me planning out game dev in my head just so there's more actual art in the world

Here’s a “I didn’t play for a week and now the Christmas event stuff started and every recurring revenue system reset requiring a new pop up” version that is somehow twice as long

like game dev is cool, but it's something i relegated to the "don't focus" bin just bc i figure there's plenty others doing it with better ideas than me but like. holy fuck i feel like i need to do my part here 😭

ah yes. the age old "google gives mozilla money, who then spends money to place ads on a google owned platform, in order to then serve ads to a person who already uses the mozilla product they're advertising" gambit. a tried and true method!
