Why does the company need all that information on users? The app worked great, I'm told, without all the new data collection expansion. Plus, China still owns 20% of tiktok and still has access to American users' information.

This isn't anything new. Tik Tok has always collected a crazy amount t if user data. Anyone using that platform is cooked. So glad I didn't sign up when it first came out and I never will.

Don’t forget to delete your account before you delete the app - otherwise, they still have your information. I had to go into airplane mode, open the TikTok app, go into settings, and select delete account, before taking out of airplane mode. This was the only way I could get around “AGREE”.

I have a feeling they're going to destroy it and make everyone move out pretty quick, because Nazi billionaires like Musk and Ellison don't understand, uh, anything but especially people Twitter, CBS, WAPO etc went downhill fast

I thought the reason for forcing the TikTok sale was because China was collecting all of this personal information. Oh, I get it. It's bad for China but good for Trump-aligned companies.

I had to close the app, put in airplane mode, go to settings, & delete account, then turn wifi back on to get around the Terms of Service. People bag on TikTok, but I got more live coverage from real people on the ground than on any other platform. It really was a tool for citizens, now it’s gone.

I never thought I would see the day I trusted Xi Jinping's China more than I trust America Not saying I trust China, but at least Xi Jinping doesn't constantly 'joke' about making Canada the 11th Province of China.

The chinese data collection was for advertisers to sell you more stuff. The american data collection is to know when they can grab you, when you're alone, when no one will see - or to see who you're with, at all times. I prefer the advertising.

I hope this has 3 things occur. 1: American tiktok falls off hard as folks realize it's all right wing agitprop, strife, and stuff meant to placate 2: smarter Americans start doing VPNs 3: kids start using alternative networks and figure out alternatives to corpo tech. Get cyberpunk.

It's unfortunate, but after so many people never dumped Twitter after everything Elon has done, it's clear these evil people can do whatever they want and it won't hurt their bottom line. I'm losing hope. People are too addicted to these apps for good change to happen.

Their intentions are insidious. I am pissed about it though. My algothrim brought me news and videos that I’m not seeing on any other platform. I will miss coverage from live protests. I will miss first hand accounts of what’s happening, not only here, but in countries across the world.

I wish more people would bail on companies / products that made bad decisions. Shiiiiiit, things would be so much better if people cared about the principles that matter. Enshitification wouldn’t be as big of thing…it really all comes down to capitalism doesn’t it. *sigh*
