Billionaires get mad at things that can't be bought, like talent. Surely they should be able to write books and perform music and have mathematical insights just as well as the talented -- they're rich! If we let them dismiss and devalue real talent, we're going to pay a big price.

the horse has been beaten to death and beyond but it's just staggering how low the standards are for this guy every week he finds a new, creative way to prove himself unfit for office and none of them mattered at all compared to the fucking gas prices

I mean why bother with all of this? Why even bother with the pretense of art and media? just hook an electrode up to the dopamine center in your brain and keep pressing the button like you're a rat in a fucking skinner machine. Go sit in a dark box hooked up to hoses forever

like even if he got the facts right it was all just bull shit and they were all obviously ready to try and manufacture a news cycle stealing nontroversy using this catnip for chuds with an assist from mainstream media. its just all become so freaking tiring, we have actual issues in this country

It's incredibly on brand how many of these tools are just running with the prescripted "gotcha!" as though Schmitt didn't just publicly soil himself.

Justin Baragona@justinbaragona.bsky.social

AMAZING! Sean Hannity’s Twitter account is trying to frame Eric Schmitt's embarrassing screwup as a win, claiming he put Jack Smith "on the spot."

People are also upset about non-economic things that get expressed in economic terms, like the fact that everything seems wildly out of control and we have a maniac in charge of the country

mtsw@mtsw.bsky.social

Maybe the reason the economic vibes are so off isn't that things are *worse* than the great recession but because back then we all thought the pain was temporary, whereas the things that are wrong with the economy today have all been getting worse for a long time and show no signs of improving

Glad about the result, but I don’t think it speaks well of us as a country that after two years of human rights violations, war crimes, naked gangster corruption, and contempt for the Constitution, he’s finally unpopular because gas got expensive.

Remarkable: An Iowa right wing radio host just leaked word that GOP polling shows House Rs in peril even in districts Trump won by +10. The culript? Trump and the war. On the pod, Iowa Dem chair Rita Hart explains why the conditions are ripe for big Dem rural gains: newrepublic.com/article/2158...

NYT has now independently corroborated all the major allegations against Susan Collins in the ProPublica report, including that investigators were prepared to move against her and then Trump intervened to shut it down. This put Trump in a position of exceptional and extortionate leverage over her.

A post that’s so eye-opening because this is exactly what liberals will say is GOP distraction tactics, almost as a parody— and here it really is what Gaetz is saying unironically as his GOP message.

I think there's no understanding the AI phenomenon without understanding the timing: At a moment of fascist govt in the US and total govt-corporate alignment that was/is nonetheless failing to consolidate authoritarianism, AI is a corporatist Hail Mary, a supposed panacea for social control.

It's even simpler: the technology is the industry. To exclude the industry from our understanding of AI is to misunderstand the technology. So-called AI just doesn't work without the whole industry behind it. How do we know? We tried for decades and even more than a century under some definitions.

We gotta seize this dude and all of his enabler’s assets after this. He’s done too much damage. It’s not enough for these people to just sail away from this on a big boat. That’s our boat.

I need younger generations to understand how weird it is that trump is such a unique terrible fuck up that it’s actually correct to blame the president for a demonstrably shittier economy and costs

This is quite possibly the most tone deaf opinion piece I’ve ever read (CalMatters is fine) Yeah buddy, the techbros aren’t paying taxes and jacking up electricity prices and chortling about how everyone is going to be out of a job soon but sure, it’s the Democratic Party that’s the problem

Opinion | Democrats have lost Silicon Valley. Here's what it will take to win it back If Democrats want to become the party of the future again, they need to stop treating the people building the future like political enemies.

since I haven't seen anyone else mention where this wet shitheap actually was, and I happen to remember it clearly, here he is literally during 9/11 calling into WWOR in Jersey to brag about how he now has the biggest building in New York:

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on 9/11: "I just thank my people. I was building a big building in New York & I took the whole crew down there right after this happened & they had no hesitation. Everybody went down with me... we thought it was coming down on top of us... two fireman lifted me up and started running with me"

democrats, literally the only thing you should be talking about for the next 3 days is donald trump lying about being a 9/11 hero. i dont care if the question is about the economy or gas prices or about how sexually attractive you are, you steer that answer to trump lying about being a 9/11 hero

I understand the confidence about how this will all end, but I'm still livid at the Postmaster General for having the gall to say the USPS has the right to decide who gets to vote, when the USPS's actual job is to DELIVER THE GODDAMN MAIL, including every ballot, whether Donald Trump likes it or not

Ryan Goodman@rgoodlaw.bsky.social

I unpacked Supreme Court mail-in ballot ruling @outfrontcnn.bsky.social ⤵️ - The Executive Order is still blocked under a totally separate court order. - States should win quick victories now that USPS has "final rule" (SCOTUS simply held it's premature before that final rule issues). Explanation:

Trump is not just the worst president, but the worst US citizen of my entire lifetime. A world historical failure of humanity and morality. He and his wicked entourage have burdened us with the task of repairing his damage and eradicating his evil legacy for the rest of our lives.

I just … ah … what the … I can’t even … this is … an absolutely extraordinary thing for a US President to say. More than 36000 Americans were killed in the war with North Korea. And he’s taking their side against our long-time allies. Insane undersells it.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump allies himself w/Kim Jong Un against South Korea: “Based on my very good relationship w/Kim Jong Un, I am not happy that the US has agreed to Joint Military Exercises…I recently asked the President of SK if they would like to join us in the Denuclearization of Iran, & they said, ‘No thanks!’”

Politicians love screaming "support our troops" until actual troops and families ask for basic empathy. Calling military families liars when the proof is sitting on their phones isn't leadership, it's cowardice. Try taking accountability for once.
