waking up from a nap to check my phone and see unambiguously good news for the world… honestly a little beautiful. fuck bolsanaro fuck zuckerberg and musk and everyone who controls the internet and thinks they can just take the whole world away from us for free

One of the biggest parts of truly becoming an adult is being able to see something you find cringe and think "ah this just isn't for me" and move on. So many people are still living in their 14 year old mindset as 20+ year olds

Genuinely I feel like it is the process of developing a skill/art/craft, of engaging with and in deep conversation with the medium, that allows you to have "good ideas", not just execute them. And now we see what happens when you can skip that process and execute on mass

It always comes back to this for me; if AI was so good, such a disclosure would be a selling point. If AI was everything these slop jockeys said it was, they should be proud to let people know their game was AI made. But the proof is in the pudding, and they can't stand that people don't want it.

artists! ICYMI: if you've tagged your art, you can make slightly more organized galleries in case your media tab is a mess (like mine). this was possible before, but now it's easier to link to with bsky's new buttons! you can get the link by clicking a tag, and then "see # posts by user"

Took about three years, but I managed to get my Shenmue discs autographed by the actors who played the character on the respective game discs! Corey Marshall, Ruth Hollyman, and Paul Lucas were incredibly kind! 🙏🙏

"it lets any idiot with no idea what they're doing make thing" oh great so you're saying 97% of thing by volume will now be carelessly-produced garbage that barely works because it was produced at the behest of an idiot with no idea what they're doing and doesn't understand it? that's just great

2 hours of playing a game fully engaged with a good mentality and learning as much as you can is always better than 10 hours of "this game is famous so I'm slogging through it by any means necessary," even if you don't finish the game

this is a wonderful issue. i was fortunate enough to be one of ten queried by @emilyprice.bsky.social for a feature on the past, present and future of non-men in games media. it's an incredible piece, and worth subscribing for on its own. but, you know. subscribe for all of unwinnable too 💜

Genuinely insane how people wanted a BGE2 because the first game was a strong 3D Zelda clone that ended on a cliffhanger, and then they finay reveal the concept for a new one and it's nothing like 3D Zelda and also a prequel For Some Reason

having watched mark darrah's post-mortem on anthem (strong recommend to anyone who wants a window into game dev process regardless of if you care about anthem) its crazy they never put out anthem next. the inside of corporations is inscrutable and maddening beyond even the worst of what we assume

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

I feel it's important to share this again. The internet is so hostile toward creators nowadays. I've seen people have their work stolen, and no longer feel comfortable sharing their creations. We can do better. Let's be supportive to the people that make this a better place! 💞

When you see devs posting their games you need to also share some of them posts. The industry is not good but some are still working and making but they need an audience and they only get that if you help share them games. Discovery is harder but you can help by simply pointing to interesting games.
