if anyone had actually given a shit about 'ethics in game journalism' the egregious examples were directly under their noses. but like all the fascist misdirection acts it inspired, gamergate was simply a premise to radicalize young men to the right by lathering outrage over a false premise

I'm taking a break from all the 3d printing and terrain to get some more of my Wood Elves Glade Guard from The Old World painted. I'll post something once I have a full unit.

I have 2x3 feet of these tiles printed. Here is 4x4 tiles with integrated terrain from The Lazy Forger. I ended up going a bit less red than the one I posted previously.

6 Wood Elf Treekin and a Treeman proxies, from Dragon Trappers Lodge. I have about 30 infantry and 9 cavalry left for a full painted army.

I finished painting my first unit for The Old World last week, a unit of Wood Elf Realms Dryads with a proxy Branchwraith. It's a Dragon Trappers Lodge Fungal Sovereign shrunk down to fit on a 30mm square base. I'll probably revisit the paint job once I finish my army.

I'm doing my yearly miniature summary and it looks like I painted 16 battlemechs, 1 gunpla, 18 DFC spaceships, 2 LI flyers, 22 HH marines, 4 28mm dudes, 8 nemesis aliens, and 3 AOS storm hosts. That's 73 minis + 1 gunpla, so double what I did last year.

I only got back into painting in 2023 after a 12 year break. In 2023 I painted 4 low linear obstacles, and the 40k Tyranid Combat Patrol (31 human sized creatures and 2 monsters). In 2024 I painted 5 AOS stormhost eternal figures, 9 LI tanks and 23 LI stands. So ~37 a year

For the next year, my goal is to rebase and turn my teenager years 6e Wood Elves army into a 2000pt Warhammer Old World Army. Then do another epic scale wargame (and actually play it).

Some hobby milestones I passed this year include my first time doing lacquer airbrush for the gunpla, figuring out oil washes, doing pin-shading/panel-lining and transfers. I played wargames this year including Battle Tech Classic, Warhammer The Old World, and Drop Fleet Commander.

I decided to try and challenge myself (and clear out my backlog) by painting a squad of minis in a day. I painted these three and am satisfied with the result. There is more I could do, but prioritizing was part of the challenge.

Painted up some battletech minis (BattleMaster here) for the 1st St. Ives Lancers, when they were separate from the Capellan Confederation. I had fun doing an approximate embalm and flag on the legs.

People forget that doing multi-year long projects costs a lot of money in labor. While I love plenty of part-time/free-time developed games, I don't think that should be the norm.

I've seen this, multiple access databases and excel spreadsheets making up a tool with 20+ years of history like this and it is the worst.
