I love R for everything statistics, but I've always been a little jealous of statisticians using SPSS Complex Samples or SAS SURVEYSELECT to design their samples. So I decided to build samplyr, a tidy and pipe-friendly grammar for survey sampling design in #rstats. dickoa.gitlab.io/samplyr/inde...

Unfortunately, all Census TIGER/Line and cartographic boundary shapefiles are down as of this evening. This means that the tigris #rstats and pygris #Python packages will not work, and geometry support in tidycensus will also fail. The Census API, for now, is still up.

Statistician Gertrude Mary Cox was born 125 years ago today! Her 1950 text Experimental Design was for years a standard reference for how to design experiments that are statistically meaningful and replicable, and she co-founded the Biometric Society. #WomenInSTEM #HistSci #Statistics 🧮

For Christmas Eve, my family always has bratwurst and potato salad (lemon, parsley, garlic, and olive oil). A perfect mix of my maternal grandparents (German and Palestinian). No other holiday do we have a set menu. What holiday food traditions do you have? The potato salad is ready and marinating!

👻 Here's the ✨ new 2024 art, feat. community responses to the question "What's something in R that feels tempting, but is actually dangerous?" I couldn't fit them all, so I've added a blank version 👇🧵 so you can make your own (could be a fun class activity 😉) Happy Halloween, #rstats world! 🤡🎈
