Replying to @rebeccawilliams.info

most people imagine donating once leads to the campaign texts — it’s mostly bought from data brokers, if you don’t opt out with them each campaign just keeps pulling your number that’s why opting out with one never solves the problem bsky.app/profile/jben...

Reposting link here because it looks like the art we did for this story didn't load. Art h/t to HuffPost's Kelly Caminero. It's an angry collage of all the messages you all sent us! 😂 www.huffpost.com/entry/voters...

This is why I still read @2600.com - for every article claiming to describe a new method for steganography (they haven't, it isn't even you know what never mind) there's an analysis of "the extractive frontier of AI" through the lens of Gravity's Rainbow (pump that in my veins and smoke it)

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

NEW: Anthropic’s filing appears to partly walk back the co-founders’ pledge to commit 80% of their personal equity holdings in the AI startup to philanthropic causes. Those acts, the filing suggests, are “voluntary, revocable expressions” that “do not constitute binding obligations.”

I've spent deeply happy hours here building tables. Thousands of kids have learned craft here. One of the world's great concentrations of wealth, and the Bay Area can't keep a community gem like this going? The second biggest cultural institution in Oakland? www.sfchronicle.com/entertainmen...

And if I only could I would make a deal with God I'd be running up that road I'd be running up that hill We all live a grim patriarchy, A grim patriarchy A grim patriarchy

there are many terrible parts of my brain, but probably the worst is the one dedicated to spotting if any song I enjoy can be sung to the tune of "Yellow Submarine"

Four days ago, I did not know what PHP was. I am sad that I know now. Fortunately, the advice is the same as usual: update your software and be nice to your sysadmins.

@chadloder.dev A Mind Forever Voyaging sold no more than 30,000 copies or so, Infocom's weakest seller apart from the board game Fooblitzky. Critics loved it: 'your mind can, indeed, voyage forever.' Reply to this post with your first command — the parser awaits.

Seeing a lot of painfully uninformed takes on AI here today, so let me set the record straight: Spielberg did a disservice to Kubrick's vision, but based on how badly Eyes Wide Shut came out, it might have actually been an improvement over what we would have seen had he lived

I’m so excited to see which of you will keep fighting for immigrant rights once Democrats have some shred of power and which of you will tell me to shut up and be grateful for my mediocre capitulating overlords.

Confirmed ICE has a detainee at Highland Hospital. They’ve been here since Friday night. Also confirmed an attorney spoke to “someone” but they couldn’t give us more info. 2 plainclothes officers are reportedly in the room with the detainee. Folks are maintaining a presence & recorded ICE vehicles.

Don't forget your down-ballot bullshit! Like here in CA, you've got a choice between someone who appears to care about education and student safety and someone who only appears to care about spreading transphobia for Superintendent of Public Instruction. Yikes!

pisses me off how ever since ai can make websites, every website for "small open source indie app" and "community database" looks like this and you can just TELL they all used the same ai to vibe code it

ICE activity has been ramping up heavily recently, keep your eyes on and don't forget about Minnesota.

MPR News@mprnews.org

Some people arrested by ICE in the Twin Cities then ordered released by a federal judge are being arrested again as they try to leave detention. One man said ICE agents taking him back into custody told him the judge was wrong to order his release.

I have loved science-fiction since I was a child, but I also have taste, so I try not to waste my time reading "Anthropic blog posts" when "Annalee Newitz" is right there
