My first synth was homebrew: A 555 chip with a bunch of switches and pots, a spring reverb from an organ, a TEAC reel-to-reel tape machine, and various connective tissue, including pieces of telephones.

just did a couple hour field recording of night sounds. Got some cool insects and frogs, and a perfect slow helicopter flyover. got some bats, too, with the bat phone . The most important piece of gear, which worked flawlessly, was the Thermacell!
