I'll die on this hill, but no one ever *really* just wants power. Political power, cultural power, it's all the same crap. "Power" is shorthand for "I want my life to be validated and to have meaning." A universal desire, tbh - but the only one who can give you it is you yourself.

I’ve said it before, will doubtless say it again: These folks are going to be permanently resentful because they’re seeking political power as a substitute for cultural power, and it’s never going to give them what they actually want.

That meaning that people crave, however, can't be something arbitrary or temporary in nature. It must be meaningfully eternal lest it reduce itself to a mere distraction. This is where philosophy can be a great help. What view of the World can lend to such eternal purpose?

Hi everyone. The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars. We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website. We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off. I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.

nytimes.comThe Onion Buys Alex Jones’s Infowars Out of BankruptcyThe satirical news site planned to turn Infowars into a parody of itself, mocking “weird internet personalities” who peddle conspiracy theories and health supplements.

Johnny Somali, the nuisance streamer who travels the world committing the most culturally offensive felonies he can for views, is now in Korea. Mock-assaulting memorials to sex crime victims, Actual-harassing women, spraying rotten fish juice on subway strangers. And he is absolutely screwed. 🧵

You are up to date.
