Talking about 2028 is dangerously naive; the danger is now. Trump is directing the military and justice department to go to "war" on US cities and his enemies, from TV hosts to former FBI directors. Keeping the 2026 midterms fair may be the last stand. My latest: www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
Trump just claimed the United States had done “a lot” for Ukraine, but that Ukraine has done “nothing” for the United States. This is unjust in the highest degree. And not just untrue in the normal sense — it is a big lie, designed to bring about horror and chaos.

Trump: "We've given more money to Ukraine than almost anybody over the years, hundreds of billions of dollars. We've got nothing back other than high diesel. American taxpayers are tired of it."
The US hasn't provided aid to Ukraine since Trump took office. Instead, they SELL military equipment to
FT: Isn’t it better for you to make unilateral declaration that you will not strike Russian refineries, even if Russia continues striking your energy infrastructure, in order to get Trump administration back on side?
Zelenskyy: “If such a moment comes and such a deal requires Ukraine not to respond
H5N1 arrived in Australia and it has been instantly devastating for the obvious groups, sea birds, seals, penguins. We are ~1 month into our crisis… how come everyone in the northern hemisphere is apparently sanguine about this scourge?
FOREMAN: The fact that Trump walked back on Patriot licenses for Ukraine is regrettable, but shouldn’t be a surprise.
I mean, over the last 2 years, Trump has shown absolutely no moral support for Ukraine whatsoever.
Anybody who relies on Trump for anything is wildly mistaken.
I published this in 2024: an analysis of CCS capacity compared to various IPCC, IEA and fossil company scenarios + relative to wind/solar
It has effectively served as a massive rhetorical system of climate delay, and was never, ever going to fulfil these fantasies

Has anyone noticed that AI has flipped from occasionally useful to dangerously misleading, opinionated and loose with facts and statistical uncertainty. In my area of expertise it consistently promulgates rubbish and when challenged apologises, retracts and repeats fallacy. What a time to be alive 🙁
Anyone that denies climate science has no moral compass. It’s so tragic for the earth and all the crazy and our wonderful species diversity on our planet that this shitfull debate persists
🔥 🇬🇧 @JonathanPieNews: “It’s quite a feat to give the Iranian regime the moral high ground — luckily Trump shattered the illusion of 🇺🇸 morality a long time ago.”
Must watch.

Australia should exit the crazy stupid AUKUS deal forthwith. There will only be worse in the future for this genuflection. We can defend our continent and shipping lanes for a fraction of the cost of this folly. Please Australia abandon the already sunk costs before we waste 1000+ billion more.
What is all the 25th shit? Trump has been just as unhinged, egotistical, avaricious. vindictive, crazy stupid and amoral as he was 30 years ago. What are you missing ? If he was apparently mentally sound 2014-2022, he remains the same…
he hasn’t changed (IMO) over the journey.
The Hungarian election is pivotal. Time for (genuinely) liberal democracies to work together, without undermining our creative and useful competitiveness. The authoritarian powers (currently including USA) are arranged against us to erode democracy, freedom of speech and fundamental human rights.
Hopefully, the key message behind what’s been happening in the Gulf and elsewhere, is that Nations need to move quickly; for so many reasons, to renewable and storable energy. Freighting fossil fuels around the globe is bad for economies and crazy bad for the planet.
Maybe…. Start to produce crap loads of renewable energy, now (!!!) good for buffering communities from shocks like we are witnessing right now- also much cheaper than the shit people are either fighting or lying about.
In 10 years, when the U.S. has moved on to other crises, the only thing that will keep Ukraine alive is its geographic defensibility.
• With Crimea: Ukraine is a maritime power and a global breadbasket.
• Without Crimea: Ukraine is a besieged fortress at the mercy of its neighbor's mood.
When I first visited the US, gotta say I was surprised at the general decrepitude of infrastructure, roads pavements, public transport etc. Granted it varies from place to place.. but. In comparison with other wealthy countries, it is generally crap.
"Australia doesn't have a gas supply shortage.
"We have a gas export problem.
"We have to ensure that Australian gas is actually benefiting Australians before we export it."
