I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

When they tell us "there is no alternative," what they mean is "stop trying to think of alternatives." To imagine radically is to move beyond the helplessness of prediction: a radical imagination dares to insist that history is what we make, not what happens to us.

Who does the ocean belong to? I asked Otto Spijkers of Leiden University to explain the law of the sea, from territorial waters and fishing rights to deep-sea resources and international disputes. We also built a glossary to make the key terms easy to follow. ⬇️🌊

onestnetwork.comWho Does the Ocean Belong To?The ocean looks open and borderless. International law sees layers: territorial waters, economic zones, the high seas... and even a different legal regime for the seabed underneath. Look at a map and...

Anyone who is trying to avoid placing blame on the voters who allowed this OBVIOUSLY unfit person to be president doesn't really believe in democracy. The whole point of democracy is that it is the VOTERS who determine who is in power. Voters f**ked up, so Trump is president again. Fact.

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

Stunning Lula victory in Brazil is another sign of how easily we all let ourselves get psy-op-ed by the right's expressions of confidence into, you know, believing them. We really have to get over that habit!

He’s flat out targeting and murdering civilians. He’s an adjudicated sex predator, who is credibly accused of raping kids, convicted of 30+ felonies, impeached twice, has openly profiteered billions for himself and his family through the presidency.

Maybe this is why Donald Trump is threatening the Alaska Senate race? Maybe Dan Sullivan is already compromised?

We'll see how far the attempt goes, even if it will clearly fail. But a constitutional system that sees such an attempt by its chief executive and then leaves him in office has already been shattered. Merely trying is betrayal enough and places him outside of constitutional or democratic legitimacy.
