go, vote, do it, candidates and races all suck in various ways but if we can get abbott and paxton out goodness that would be wonderful. it wouldn't be everything but it would be something

Day 26: Upright man An attempt at a Homo erectus skull. I think my sketchbook thumbnail was probably the most accurate of several inaccurate attempts 😅 Decided on a whim to bust out a dip pen and actually use the ink I got in the Inkvent calendar last Christmas. Enjoyed it. 🐡

I was super pleased to find an excellent Paleolithic palette in the trio of Smokey Tobacco, Carousel, and Marie Rose inks.

Nope, not spending one second of my one precious life and slowly failing eyesight on that Odyssey slop.

I have a planchette shaped wooden panel I have been trying to decide what to do with for years. I'm thinking I will use it for a gouache painting, but I feel like everyone's done a moth on a planchette, or a other spooky stuff... what to paint? I need to use the thing.

RIP

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

If there's a Mothman, it stands to reason he had a caterpillar stage right? Is it just a caterpillar with a big butt? Would he be a wooly caterpillar or one of the more inch-wormy ones?

One week, seven full days of Early Voting in Tarrant County is done. 340,868 ballots cast. 58% ahead of the pace in 2022 and days that approach the presidential turnout in 2024. This is a quick review of last week and a look forward. Polls are open M-F from 7am to 7pm. Election Day is 11/3.

Mattie Parker, the Republican mayor of Fort Worth, has endorsed Democrat Jon Rosenthal for Texas Railroad Commissioner over Bo French - who for years ran the Republican Party in Tarrant County, which includes Fort Worth. She's the latest current/former GOP official to endorse a Democrat this cycle.

BTW, Bonne Maman jar lids make really good gouache palettes, the inside is a grey-ish white, so it is nice for mixing colors. And I use the empty jar for water containers, so Bonne Maman jars get my endorsement as best non-art-supply art supply. 😄

Mask is off with only a minor mishap. Time for a few detail touch ups, painting in the sides, and varnish. I'll be done for the show! It opens Nov 5th at @btpbrewery.bsky.social at 7pm. Come see all the art, maybe buy some! (cash only!) #art #SciArt #invertart

wondering why texas is so hard to flip? here you go

I have never stepped foot in a cheesecake factory because I always just assumed it was kind of like an Applebee’s and now I kind of wanna go.

This post is unavailable.

Ugh, I wish my seat was that far up. I am just on the borderline to needing an extra small frame, so my seat is pretty much all the way down, which means anything I put on my back rack interferes with swinging my leg over.

If I win the lottery, there will be signs.

Remind me never to dig in West Texas.

Andrew D Thaler@drandrewthaler.bsky.social

A sentence I just wrote for my book: "In the interim between the Ocean Dumping Ban and New York building waste-processing facilities, the city loaded train cars with sewage sludge and shipped their waste to West Texas for landfill disposal. This 'Poo-poo Choo-choo' ran from 1992 to 2001."

Remembered I owed Kansas money for its tollway and paid the bill online today which is the due date, hurray for not incurring stupid late fees!

I normally refuse to use toll roads, but in this case I was getting nervous about finding a gas station.

I was reminded yesterday by @andreagrimes.com that this book exists, so I got it and have started reading it. I understand the expense of publishing color photographs, and this book has some but not near enough to satisfy meeeeeeee! 😅

I realized the other day that there is a Wikipedia app, which lets me make lists and save articles in them. My phone’s browser has gone from having 127 tabs open to 75.
