Somehow, Smith seems surprised that separatists might try to separate her from their party.

The Breakdown AB@thebreakdownab.bsky.social

“Sylvestre refuses. “I won’t be the guy that splits the right. I will not come up with a new party,” he said. “If the progressives want to leave the UCP, they’re very welcome to do it. We’re not going anywhere.” www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

It’ll be a cold day in h*ll before forgetting that Danielle Smith made a deal with these misfits and malcontents in her quest for power. And how many of us normie Albertans were ignored in the meantime.

The Breakdown AB@thebreakdownab.bsky.social

“David Coletto of Abacus Data polled on that and found that only one-third of the separatist voters truly want Alberta independence. The convinced separatist vote in Alberta is about eight per cent.” #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli calgaryherald.com/news/braid-a...

I totally agree. Only difference is the number of people here in Alberta that are much better off than most places in Canada (& definitely the world) but instead of celebrating their good fortune for where they live & what they have, they complain that they need more.

Danielle Smith wants to gerrymander our riding maps because she's terrified she will lose. She wants politicians to pick their voters. No way, premier. In Alberta, voters pick their politicians.

Every word of this.

Max Fawcett@maxfawcett.bsky.social

The separatists are going to lose today’s vote. But if Alberta’s political class doesn’t stop feeding and inflaming their bottomless sense of grievance and victimhood, we’ll all end up losing in the end. #abpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/10/19/o...

If you haven't voted yet, it's not too late, and it's so important that you do. If you are in line by 8pm you will be allowed to vote. Your polling station is probably not more than a few minutes walk away. Voting location and more can be found at Elections Alberta's website.

Don’t get sucked into the ICP’s rage-baiting. None of the constitutional questions can pass. They’re a setup for future confrontations and endless rage-farming. That’s why we must vote #notothenine

I actually find it a bit odd that the @albertandp.ca are advocating a “no” vote on Question 7. Abolition of the undemocratic Senate has been CCF-NDP policy from the very beginning of the movement. #AlbertaReferendum #albertapoli

Heads up! This is a thread - more like a library/compendium - of my columns, speeches & podcasts about Alberta's referendum questions. I thought it might be useful if I gathered it all in one place, organized by time and topic. #Alberta #notothenine #abpoli #cdnpoli

So, what’s better? Never reaching a deal? Or reaching a deal they will never honour?

With the latest provincial overreach, Danielle Smith is now ordering me how to vote at Calgary City Council. If I refuse, I risk losing my job. I want to work constructively with the province, even when we disagree. But we must be free to listen to residents and make fair decisions.

I didn't mince my words. Alberta's anti-immigration referendum questions are racist. They are also a potential disaster for Alberta's economy. Last night, I rose in the Senate to denounce them - and to thank all the thousands of Albertans fighting against them. Please share. #notothenine #cdnpoli

I have also said for a long time, that most Alberta separatists do not want to join the US, but a core minority do. But the eventual result of an independent Alberta would be a vassal protectorate of the US (not the 51st state). The gravitational pull would be just too strong.

More confirmation and details of the deep ties between Alberta separatists and Trump Republicans. They are part of the same far-right populist movement. And the Americans are deeply involved in promoting disunity in Canada. www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic...

theglobeandmail.comThe elephant in the roomAlberta separatists have gone to D.C. offering fresh water and oil in exchange for American support – and Republican operatives have provided tactical assistance inside the province

First it was @naheednenshi.bsky.social Now it’s @lukaszukab.bsky.social I am so done with smart but lazy AB politicians spouting the “legitimate grievances” BS. Alberta doesn’t have grievances. It has bad politicians.

Extremely disappointed to see this “legitimate grievances” message from FC: a lack of oil & gas investment to justify accelerating harm. 🤮😢 No, if Alberta has any legitimate grievance it is being extracted from at a 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨rate leading to ecological collapse & water bankruptcy youtu.be/hSwCMXE7zxE 1/

Today the Globe and Mail reports about American political operatives involving themselves in Alberta's referendum. This is, of course, wholly inappropriate. I want to provide some context to any American who sees an "opportunity": (🧵)

Danielle Smith’s unnecessary referendum is dividing communities and wasting taxpayer dollars. On October 19, send a message and vote with Alberta’s Voice. No to Danielle Smith. No to the Nine. #alberta #abreferendum #abpoli #ableg #daniellesmith

I think vote splitting is a myth. People cast one affirmative vote. In a parallel universe with different parties on the ballot, many choices will change, but it can’t be assumed they would all move to a single alternative.

NEWS: Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s office is blaming its shocking Calgary byelection loss on a conservative vote split, whiles others point to the referendum. Guthrie denies any vote split argument, saying the UCP should be earning the vote instead. www.thecanadianpressnews.ca/politics/alb...

Danielle Smith says she won’t support counter-tariffs because they hurt businesses & workers. Odd. Because just last year, she imposed a markup on wine that hurt businesses, cost jobs & hit Canadian wineries hardest. So maybe there’s another reason she refuses to stand with Team Canada? #ableg

For those at the back: The US doesn’t “defend” other countries. It defends ITSELF using other countries as buffers. But now the US wants to take control of our trade and cultural policies. GFY, Duffy.

Behold, a steaming pile of self-serving dung from a recent Globe and Mail op-ed by two business leaders. Reality: the province is suffocating clean energy, no business has “stepped up” to build or fill the pipeline, and oil companies are minting massive profits for themselves, not the federation.
