I found this to be one of the more unique scenes I captured on my last Iceland trip - a narrow waterfall emerging from an impossibly blue pool, surrounded by dark volcanic rock and bright green moss. #timothykeeneyphotography #photography #landscapephotography

Another day a different variety of #WeeBee on the Marigolds at a garden I visited. This one is a Buff-tailed Bumblebee. They all seem to like this flower, so I shall plant some myself. #Insects #Bees #Pollinators #Stunday #OrangeSun #ColorADay #Bloomscrolling #EastCoastKin #PhotographersOfBluesky

Some 3,400 years ago, an Egyptian artisan captured a sense of speed and elegance in this beautifully carved handle in the shape of a horse! 🐴 ❤️ New Kingdom, Dynasty 18, reign of Amenhotep III, c. 1390–1352 BC. The Met 📷 by me #Archaeology

The second is this book that I bought a week ago and haven’t read yet so this is just a new book post. I know I will love it as I love all the @hookland.bsky.social posts and have always followed them. They speak to me so have no doubt this book will too.

Having run around a bit like a loon all morning working on set up and bag filling, then helped on reg during peak opening hours. I rather pancaked about 8pm and passed out hard. But i’d planned for that happening and the sleeps done me a world of good :D

October is change. October is spirits. We walk the edge of its fields, knowing they wait for the first frost of the year to crack them and release their ghosts. - Katherine Gidding, Hookland artist, talking about her 1939 painting 'The Lip'

Bloody kids of today. They aren't satisfied with manglewurzels or turnips for their Haggedy-Raggedy lanterns. Oh no, they want something non-traditional, something a bit different. Something a bit too bloody orange if you ask me. The spirits won't like it. – Sam Buckle, 1982 #VOH

I am a witch for all those near broken. I am a witch for those scraped raw by trying to climb high walls, cut by having to walk on glass scattered by hollow-hearted bastards. I am a witch for those needing transformation, bound to pain. For witches understand the bruised. - #EmilyCBanting #WitchSky

Some buildings hold their shadows after sunset. They stretch and pace beyond the failing sun. Stalk corridors, assemble in former ballrooms in hope of a grand waltz. Creep wooden doors and walls overdressed for the dark. Shadows that are so eager to meet you. – #DAKilroy, 1982

Hookland is ghost country. Hookland is witch country. If you suspect some monstrous thing is lurking in your nightmares, you might just find it in that place of legends. – #CLNolan, Children’s Hour, BBC Regional Programme, 1936

Hmm, I seem to be doing a #bloomscroll instead of working. Oh well. The Ultra Violet Salvia greggi is living up to its name here.

We archaeologists tell the stories of the stones not to erase their mystery, not to undo their role as anchoring post for folklore, but to transmit the Long Neolithic. We give context for ghosts, provide new reasons for lithic pilgrimage. – Dr. K. Brophy #StandingStoneSunday
