bugs.openjdk.org/browse/JDK-8... will reduce the size of the Javadoc bundled fonts starting from Java 28. However, avoiding inclusion by default was rejected: bugs.openjdk.org/browse/JDK-8...

So now I'm adding this configuration to all my Java projects. For the Arconia Framework, that meant going from 200MB to 8MB total release size (many artifacts). Considering the new publishing limits set by Sonatype, that makes a huge difference! Also, no wonder the disk storage costs are so high!

When we started TestLens, we knew who we were building it for: teams that take their test suites seriously. So it means a lot that some of the most widely used testing projects in the JVM world now use TestLens on their own pull requests. ๐Ÿ‘‰๏ธ Read more: testlens.app/blog/2026/09... #java #junit

In Session 4 of the GitHub Secure Open Source Fund, 50 projects upgraded their security posture through AI-assisted workflows, maintainer expertise, GitHub security tools, and more. As AI changes how software is built, maintainers remain at the center of protecting the open source ecosystem. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Replying to @garnier.wf

Y'all are creating a lot of noise, and not doing _any_ of the engineering work. When we say "not like this because <reason>" and get an LLM-generated fix within 5 minutes, what have you learned? Have you furthered your understanding of the project so that the next PR is better?

I had a blast at JUG Lucerne, with a small but engaging crowd whom I spent almost three hours with! ๐Ÿ˜ What stuck with me the most: โ€ข AssertJ should be renamed to AssertJoy โ€ข They would love a hands-on follow-up with more advanced use cases Many thanks again to @mcpringle.bsky.social for having me!

No good weather today ๐ŸŒง๏ธ โ˜” so why not join me in JUG Lucerne and find out what a handful of developers are doing to ship the next major version of AssertJ? ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป www.jug.ch/html/events/...

Now the Java User Group in Zurich knows what's wrong with AssertJ! And also how we're working to improve things. We're still in the early stages, but I can't wait to see all this work shipped to our users ๐Ÿš€ Thank you so much to everyone who joined and @patbaumgartner.com for hosting! I had a blast!

I'm a huge fan of data-driven and parameterized testing, and always want to keep test code as readable and maintainable as production code. What you get: ๐Ÿƒ @SpringConversion โ†’ Tap into Spring Framework's type conversion ๐Ÿ”ข @Bytes, @Base64, and @Hex โ†’ Decode strings directly into byte arrays ๐Ÿงต

Excited for #JCON EUROPE 2026? See Tim te Beek at #JCON2026 in Cologne talking about 'Better Assertions with #AssertJ' Not all testing #libraries are equal. Sure they all run your #tests, but what happens when they fail? โ€œExpected โ€˜trueโ€™, โ€ฆ ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ 2026.europe.jcon.one/tickets Free for #JUG members

I attended Simon's workshop on Vaadin and Karibu Testing a couple of years ago, and I still remember the wow factor when I realized how easily you can have the entire stack in Java, with amazing end-to-end test coverage. Highly recommended stack, especially for enterprise and business applications!

Simon Martinelli@martinelli.ch

Vaadin has one huge advantage over many other frontend technologies: true browser-less testing. In my article, I show how you can test Vaadin applications without starting a browser, using Karibu-Testing.

๐Ÿ“ข AssertJ joined the GitHub Secure Open Source Fund, a program that leveled up security across 67 open source projects. What changed for us: SHA pinning, immutable releases, incident response plan, and a mindset shift toward security awareness ๐Ÿ”’ The impact? More robust JVM assertions ๐Ÿš€

What an honor to meet one of my Spring heroes! ๐Ÿƒ
