We woke up today in a country that disappears people now, we’re told they were illegal immigrants but they didn’t have a day in court and we don’t have their names. We woke up in a country today where the ruling of a federal judge is a mere suggestion.

Republicans are just a criminal enterprise these days.

Minnesota Senate DFL@senatedfl.bsky.social

After the murders of #ReneeGood and #AlexPretti, Senate DFLers fought for justice and passed a bill requiring the MN BCA to investigate cases involving the killing of #Minnesota residents by federal agents. Every Senate Republican voted no. House Republicans wouldn’t even give the bill a vote.

Marjorie Taylor Greene comes out with a statement opposing the raid on Ilhan Omar before Chuck Schumer, the leader of the Democratic Party

W.E.D.em Boyz@leftistwonk.bsky.social

It is INSANE that Chuck Schumer hasn't put out a statement on Ilhan Omar yet

Don’t laugh at this and roll your eyes like most of the left. These lies work on a fair number of voters and contributed significantly to losses in 2024.

Trump: "They want to cut your children. It's unbelievable what they do. Your son leaves as Jimmy and comes home in three days as Janet, and they don't even ask you. They can take your child out of school and do whatever the hell they want. Minnesota is one of those states."

This may not be a good time to bring this up but Trump once gave an address to 1500 conservative donors in front of a fake presidential seal containing the eagle from the Russian seal and a set of golf clubs.

"the twisted smile on the corpse and the video with the joker bragging that he committed murder raises serious questions about what role the joker played in the smilex gas attacks" - senate democrats

100% of this.

David Roberts@volts.wtf

The more combative Dems get, the more of this they will run into. It will be a coordinated wave of elite opinion, scolding them, tamping them down. The fight strategy *only* works if they are willing to bull their way through it, blow it off, mock it. (Their history does not raise one's hopes.)

David Brooks is, flatly, wrong. His opponent is a Nazi, it’s high time to call a spade a spade. Americans are sick to death of poll tested ineffectual horseshit.

driftglass@driftglass.bsky.social

"Jon Ossoff, my advice to him is, if you start calling your political opponents Nazis, maybe it's time to shut up. That's just not what we do here in this country." -- David Brooks, this evening. Remember, Brooks still gets very handsomely rewarded by the fossilized media for saying shit like this

NEW: @apnews.com confirms that ICE has begun electronically "disappearing" people in the agency's custody who have final orders of removal. As of last week, anyone jailed by ICE with a final order of removal will NOT appear in the ICE Online Detainee Locator System, making them effectively vanish.

Stay tuned for more on this from mainstream reporting hopefully later today, but Bob's got the gist of it; last week, it appears that ICE began disappearing people from the Online Detainee Locator System the moment they get a final order of removal. Yes, this is as deeply screwed up as it sounds.

Not only is the criteria for this “toxicity score” not laid out plainly as a rule people could follow (or question them on), it’s being used to shadow ban accounts without their knowledge. Silently putting people on mute when they disagree with you (even if you’re wrong) now THAT is toxic.

There is a profound lack of humility in deciding what is a “good” human interaction, and describing behavior as “anti-social” sounds like something out of the red scare. Silently shutting off whole areas of dissent and debate is creepy, and wrong, and it seems being done without transparency.

Human language and behavior is idiosyncratic, sarcastic, sometimes angry and sometimes silly. That is what humanity is. Calling something a “toxicity score” is inherently flawed as the term toxic itself is applying a system of values and assumptions, and those are not being transparently disclosed

I applaud BlueSky working to create a safer space on the internet, but the language being used here and the entire mindset seems to forget their own subjective judgments are not cold data. These are human relationships and this is a medium for their existence, not a road with clear right of way.
