@bart.gov I want to use the bikeeep racks at 24th mission but unfortunately couldn’t get either the app to work or my Clipper (apple wallet) to open the lock. Am I doing something wrong or is it only workable with a plastic clipper card that no one anymore?

I haven't looked too carefully into CA's billionaire tax proposal, and obviously I support taxing billionaires more. But this also feels like another round in the constant scramble to compensate for the fact that we can't tax property like a normal state.

Amazing results in New York remind me how disappointing it is that congestion pricing efforts have stalled in San Francisco. With congestion pricing, Muni service could be robustly funded, transit ridership would climb, and traffic through much of the Bay Area would significantly decrease.

Year 1 data on congestion pricing in Manhattan… * Vehicle traffic: -11% * Foot traffic: +3.4% * Storefront vacancy: -0.9% * Pollution: -22% * Revenue for mass transit: $548M So YES this has been a huge success.

Have to get from LAX to UCLA and decided to take the Culver City 6 bus. What a mistake. The bus is supposed to be here every 15 minutes on Saturday. There are five busses working the line today. It takes an hour from end to end… yeah, that’s not gonna hit your scheduled headways. SMDH.

“California, and the country, cannot await the outcome of the midterms to repel Trump’s siege on democracy. More drastic action is required." Read @clarajeffery.bsky.social on how powerful states can fight back against Trumpism. After all, California has the 4th largest economy in the world.

motherjones.comIt’s time for soft secessionHow blue states can use their economic clout to stand up to Trump’s agenda—starting with California.

I am pretty sure this isn’t a real “ordinance” and this is just an unnoticed (not on the menu), illegal after tax fee. I understand it is hard to run a small business but this crap just pisses me off. @sfgov.sf.gov

"Though [Democratic] cities are far better than [Republican cities] in almost every regard, the homelessness crisis that the housing crisis begets negates all of it in most people’s eyes."

Wrote about how California needs to get serious about the urban disorder our failure to build housing has created.

Senator Alex Padilla is one of the most decent people I know. This is outrageous, dictatorial, and shameful. Trump and his shock troops are out of control. This must end now.

Look at the difference between NorCal and SoCal. In the Bay, out of the 11 Senators repping urban areas, 8 voted yes. In LA County, out of 13 Senators only 4 voted yes. The LA delegation is killing housing bills.

Willie Brown Middle School is a San Francisco 6-8 in the Bayview District. For the entire ‘24-‘25 school year, I have been driving the 44 O’Shaughnessy bus that stops there right after school gets out. That trip has been the busiest and most challenging part of my working day.

Congestion pricing in NYC has been a policy miracle. It has dramatically reduced air and noise pollution, saved drivers time money and New Yorker *lives.* There has been a ~50% reduction in injury crashes in the congestion relief zone. Pricing driving delivers better transportation for *everyone.*

Periodic reminder that if SB 827 had passed EIGHT YEARS AGO, that your rent would be lower, that California wouldn’t have as many forced to live on the streets, that we wouldn’t be losing as much representation in DC, that our climate trajectory would be better, etc, etc, etc.

California, Hawaii, Singapore, Israel - I can think of many places where this type of technology would be super useful.

The Hong Kong Water Supplies Department provides a seawater supply service to buildings for flushing water closets (blue color is added). Water closet flushing typically represents 30% of domestic water use, which helps reduce freshwater use in the water stressed city of HK.

A mom just came in SO EXCITED to find a map store bc her son would LOVE it. She tries to be coy. "My son is... Really into maps. Real special kid." I'm like, ma'am, this is a map store. Half my customers are on the spectrum. I have a trains and transit section. You're among friends.

I'm endlessly kind of baffled by the lack of urgency on housing California. This is the state's number one problem—a crisis so bad that's imperiling national Democratic ambitions. And all we can pass are heavily compromised bills that take effect in like five years, if ever.

Now that we've won JFK Promenade and Great Walkway, may I suggest the next fight be tearing down the 280 stub north of 101? It would reconnect neighborhoods, improve walkability and save $100s of millions to rebuild the dumb thing as part of the Caltrain downtown extension.
