MAJOR MILESTONE! Prop 1 has now DELIVERED more than 2,900 PERMANENT HOMES for Californians, including our brave veterans.

Governor Gavin Newsom@governor.ca.gov

This July, California counties will receive $1 BILLION under Prop 1 to expand affordable housing and provide vital services for those experiencing homelessness and living with behavioral health challenges. No more excuses. Let's see these tax dollars put to work.

Fantastic news in our defense against Donald Trump's attacks on our Constitution and elections. Make no mistake: Trump won't stop trying to illegally seize power or deface our democracy. California will keep fighting back.

The Cal State LA bachelor's degree initiative just launched at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. With 81.5% of students who earned rehabilitative credits remaining conviction-free after release, we're setting folks up for success after incarceration and creating safer, stronger communities.

As part of his plan to overhaul prison culture, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that an inaugural cohort of 34 prisoners at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center have enrolled in a CSULA bachelor’s...

Safer communities start with accountability, prevention, and hope. With crime at record lows across California, we're continuing to invest in law enforcement, victim support, and rehabilitation at facilities like San Quentin to give people the tools to turn their lives around.

I've signed an executive order to continue the progress we've made against crime in California into the next governor's administration. This interagency effort will give recommendations for maintaining and strengthening our proven public safety strategies and investments.

With historic drops in crime across California, we're doubling down on our proven California Model — both accountability and rehabilitation. At Corcoran State Prison, we're introducing a new staff-led housing community to better prepare individuals to return to their community.

California's September revenue came in at a whopping $2.9 BILLION above forecasts. As our economy continues to grow, we will keep betting on the future being built right here in the Golden State.

Kern County’s Mojave Micro Mill will be California’s first new steel mill in more than 50 years. Through a kickstart of $30M in tax credit through California Competes state funding, this new mill will commit over $540M in capital investments and ~450 new jobs over its first 5 years of operation.

We’re proudly bringing good-paying jobs to communities up and down the entire state, expanding steel manufacturing, and cutting emissions all at the same time.

Congratulations to the 120 women and men who have answered the call to public service, proudly graduating from the CHP Academy this week. California is deeply grateful they have chosen to protect our communities, uphold our shared values, and are helping build a safer, stronger future for all.

A college degree shouldn't be the only path to a well-paying career. My administration is helping make that a reality with investing in people — training 49,000+ new apprentices across California in skilled trades and fields like healthcare, education, and tech.

The Trump Administration kept thousands of sailors and Marines aboard the USS Lincoln for months past their scheduled return. When they finally returned to California, we provided the sailors and their families with mental health services and support — and expanded resources statewide.

We have secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant from FEMA to help ensure critical resources are available to suppress the #NorteFire in South Orange County. CalOES, CAL FIRE and local and state partners have been working through the night to protect Californians.

American automakers like Ford are choosing California's top talent and workforce to develop the next generation of zero-emission vehicles. And with nearly 12,000 Californians already claiming our new instant rebate to switch to electric vehicles, it's a win-win for the Golden State.

With strong Santa Ana winds, high heat, and red flag conditions increasing wildfire risk across California, I'm grateful to the men and women working around the clock to monitor conditions, coordinate resources, and keep our communities safe. We're staying vigilant and prepared.

Today, I convened California’s top emergency response officials to prepare and protect at-risk communities for the upcoming red flag conditions throughout the state. We will continue using every tool at our disposal to keep Californians safe.

I'm proclaiming a state of emergency in Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties to support Tropical Storm Rachel recovery. We're moving urgently to help impacted Californians get back on their feet and restore critical infrastructure.

This is a sad, desperate attempt by Trump to use his politicized Justice Department to try to suppress California voters just three weeks before Election Day. Courts have made clear the federal government has no role in running state elections.

The results are in: test scores are up ACROSS California. Since 2019, I've made historic investments in education — because every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. It was great to visit Stauffer Middle School in Downey to highlight the progress we're making together.

As agencies across the state prepare for the potential impacts of El Niño, proactive preparedness efforts remain a top priority. The CAL FIRE San Diego Water Rescue Cadre, along with multiple agencies, are conducting comprehensive multi-agency training exercises. @governor.ca.gov

I’m activating the California State Operations Center in response to high winds and elevated fire weather conditions in Southern California. We are coordinating state and local partners to rapidly pre-deploy life-saving resources, respond in real-time, and protect California communities.

With strong Santa Ana winds and elevated fire danger ahead, I’m mobilizing California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and CALFIRE to preposition resources across Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Orange counties and prepare emergency authorities for activation.

Since I became Governor in 2019, we've added $1.5T+ to the California economy, strengthened protections for working Californians, and secured the Golden State's place as a global leader in the next generation of industries. No other state in America comes close.

California is closely tracking strong Santa Ana winds and elevated fire risk ahead in Southern California. We’re taking proactive steps to protect our communities and keep Californians safe.

Great visit to Voltage Multipliers in Visalia, one of the incredible California companies that's helped make the Golden State the No. 1 in manufacturing in America. Be sure to look out for the new 'Made in California' symbol to choose items made right here in our state!

Last month, California's power grid supported the highest electricity demand since 2022 without any emergency measures. That was no accident — the Golden State is proving that clean energy and battery storage systems are the best ways to keep the lights on.

NEW: CA’s grid handled its highest electricity demand in 4 years — without emergency measures or conservation calls 50,335 megawatts. Extreme heat. And the lights stayed on. While states like TX face major grid failures, CA’s clean energy investments are delivering a stronger, more resilient grid!

Childcare shouldn’t break the bank — and since 2019, California has cut costs by thousands of dollars. Together, we've made it easier to get kids into affordable care programs, created a free school grade for every four-year-old, and expanded before and after-school services.
