I'd feel a lot better about the argument that we should vote for Blue candidates with unacceptable positions and then "we'll work with them within the party to bring them in line" if bringing rogue candidates in line with the party was something democrats did.

there are a few folks out there on the "they are wings of the same bird" team that say that Dems keep these rogue operators fat dumb and happy so they can be a lone voice cancelling out a position that the Dems would like to LOOK like they support... but secretly don't

I'm not that cynical (ha!) but they have to realize that pushing for the poison pill candidates and then acting all "shocked Pikachu" when they turn out to be the vote that say... clinches the Kavanaugh nomination, well that just makes them look at least incompetent, and at most... complicit

'Speakeasy Corner.' (1928) Martin Lewis died in obscurity in 1962; he found some success in his early career, but was largely forgotten after the Great Depression leaving him to spend last three decades teaching etching including his famous pupil Edward Hopper.

(Watching a film where a woman goes into labor while folks are fending off zombies) Me: (to wife) it seems that women's pain is seen as 'really inconvenient to the plot' in a lot of these... and it's kind of a plot point in itself. Wife (Gets really mad at me for the rest of the evening)

Time to post the thing again: “if you are trying to make people stop doing something that isn’t hurting them, and isn’t hurting others, then you generally are doing a bad thing.” You are especially bad if the thing you want them to stop is ‘existing’ or ‘having the same rights that you have.’

There is like, a 10 second shot of Florence Pugh in the tail end of the "East of Eden" adaptation where she says a million lines of dialogue without a single word. An amazing performance in a whole nest of amazing performances.

But it’s not, it’s just onions at 3 AM when you’d really rather be sleeping and you must wait, wait so you can wait… so you can get some coffee in there and at least move from this state to the next…

Ive discovered in the wisdom of my golden years, It’s possible to hallucinate smells, to have your brain fixate on them and replay them endlessly, like it did with Snow’s “Informer” back in 1992

I hear anecdotally that people’s brains fixate on songs they love… not mine, my brain fixates on songs I * hate * as if by replaying it in great detail, endlessly, will unlock the mystery of its popularity

*You know, along with all the ethical-legal-social moral-panic and the geopolitical/financial intrigue, modern "AI" is really a fabulous spectacle to witness *It's not a mere bubble-and-fake, it ranks with Hiroshima, Sputnik and a mass advent of people gobbling LSD
