RE: The Nathan Fielder/ Elizabeth Holmes documentary. Is this just white-guy-being-cheeky-and-ironic about someone who is, at heart, a felon and not a very good person? (see Ben Folds writing a song about Bristol Palin). Eager to be wrong so if I am please say so.

Will be seeing THE SOCIAL RECKONING as a person deeply unimpressed with THE SOCIAL NETWORK. And wondering if this makes me a crowd or a focus group of one?

Can't wait to read this.

“The genre is at an inflection point now. Pop culture is no longer lionizing founders to the extent that characters who do are played as sycophants or lemmings … But if attitudes have soured toward figures like Zuckerberg or Elon Musk, another force remains at play.” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/18/m...

I am the person who has mixed up Anne Carson and Anne Sexton more than once.

Two writers I have a very long history with. Come through! It's gonna be great!

San Francisco is the only city in America that values Democracy so much that it doesn't believe an election counts the first time and everything is up for a revote every cycle. This issue has been decided already. The park won. The freeway lost. www.savesunsetdunes.org

If you think MOVIES ARE OVER, you are all of the things described below...and also a very boring person.

I think I have decided that if you think The Movies Are Over it is a sign you have given up on art, because baby, the movies are always alive

There needs to be a conference for oldest children to attend as we have unique perspectives and grievances. Problem is, every attendee would take too much responsibility for it.

And while we're at it, how about how long it will take the next administration (and the one after that and after that) to undo the damage...

Sad excuse for journalism: Big profile of DOGE lord doesn’t say a word about all the damage he did. And it was not an “ill fated cost-cutting effort.” It was a malignant, catastrophic attack on the government and its workers by arrogant and ignorant assholes. www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...

Being curious about the contours of ethical bankruptcy is still ethical bankruptcy. Having a rigorous debate over say whether women deserve equal rights doesn't make you smart. It makes you an asshole who thinks such matters are actually debatable.

In case you missed it: Iif you’re giving your money to Starbucks right now, you’re officially crossing a picket line. The union has called for a boycott, and we respect the union’s wishes.

Don't forget: Starbucks is boycotted. The company has received hundreds of NLRB rulings against it and still has 550 cases pending. Corporate is refusing to finalize a fair contract. Meanwhile, their CEO makes $14,900/hr. Baristas are asking for $17. No contract? No coffee.
