Any of my nerdy comics or music pals on here big fans of the Spin Doctors? I'm looking to put together a thing timed to the 35th anniversary of "Pocket Full of Kryptonite" later this year, and I'm wondering if there might be a fun collaborator or two out there.

The powerful are trying to turn this into a frog-boiling situation, where if enough people you like and respect use it, they assume you will stop being outraged and accept that things are just trending that way. It’s gross, and I get frustrated when otherwise good artists fall for it.

I've been following a coach who's teaching Dem candidates—from Zohran Mamdani to Abdul El-Sayed—how to talk about crime. If you hate all the fearmongering ads that come every election season, I recommend checking out these alternatives www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

From 1992-2004, the Anchorage International Airport had a bar with animatronic, talking, and rather cursed-looking customers who randomly told each other bad jokes. What a world we live in. Learn the history of our replica Cheers bar in my latest article: www.adn.com/alaska-l...

I feel like I don’t buy out of pity. I buy to support independent art, which is the cornerstone of tomorrow’s comics industry. We always tell people the best way to break in is to make a comic.

If there's a term related to comics fairs/festivals/cons that we really need to retire it's "pity buys". Let's think of them as "empathy buys" instead. You're facilitating someone getting the story they wanted out into the world and reaching one more reader. There's nothing disparaging about that!

I cannot imagine an identifier that would make me less likely to watch something

This man poisoned his coworker for years. He was trying to kill her, slowly and painfully, and she suffered all kinds of horrific health problems as a result. He served ONE day in prison. For attempted murder. We are not nearly angry enough. nypost.com/2026/10/11/u...

yeah so i disagree because I think you're missing the point the film's main theme is to let the past die insofar as the unneeded structures that no longer fit. The Jedi are flawed! Especially as an organized group. But Rey is going to continue what mattered from the Jedi without the Order.

Turns out the friction of having to learn photoshop was a crucial firewall protecting society from the terrible taste of small business owners

When I first heard about AI being used for menus and advertisements, my concern was largely that it would be used to idealize the food and make it look better than it actually was. At no point did I imagine that restaurants would willingly put out horrific looking images of their food on purpose

the nyt bent over backward to make this a both sides thing but reading the whole thing you can’t escape the common fact—this is purely a right wing phenomenon. starting w the anecdote of the jan 6er congressman is truly ironic.

The New York Times, besides omitting Melissa Hortman’s name but obliquely referring to her as a legislator, hasn’t yet posted the OP article on Bluesky. In the 2020 campaign, the NYT considered Biden’s age 11 times more important than Project 2025. Trump is the oldest man ever inaugurated.

Saw this earlier and boy howdy are you behind. It is SO FAR past this. This is why the whole, "he's trying to cause riots so he can..." doesn't work. THEY DO NOT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT FACTS OR APPEARANCES. If they did, they'd be reacting to polls, not shooting people in the lead up to the midterms.

That time someone dumped a toy house on the cemetery wall and, when I crouched a bit, some ✨ Hollywood Magic ✨ occurred.

Both of these teams really gritted it out to the end and both accomplished something. As a Guards fan, I would have made this same post if it went the other way.

Hell of a White Sox season. Really tough way to end it, but kudos to Cleveland.

I don't know if the @rifftrax.com Experiments episode is really "better" than the last few seasons of MST3K, but I absolutely think the DIY production value lends an earnestness that has been missing. Also, I'm not interested in litigating "better." They're different products. Just an observation.
