The War on Terror began 25 years ago today, when Congress passed the post-9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force. Only one member of Congress had the courage and foresight to oppose this blank check for forever wars: Barbara Lee.

I am old enough to remember the same nonsense said about boxing.

You know, I covered an NFL team for 20 years. There are some good things about football. Most of them are present in any team sport. You don’t have to be any mentally tougher or more athletic to play football than basketball, hockey, soccer. I’m not sure concussions really “prepare us for war.”

This seems like a seriously terrible and dangerous idea, that wouldn’t work except to endanger yourself. At the same time, having supposed law enforcement officers refusing to wear uniforms or badges is an even more terrible and dangerous idea. And is endangering all of us.

Apparently people are sharing this far and wide on social media, which I think is horrible. This could cripple ICE operations. PLEASE do not share this.

And you shouldn’t have to do the same thing every time you visit the same web site or different web sites for that matter. They’re playing the odds and waiting for you to mess up.

It means they’re really desperate for a distraction from the incompetence and corruption.

To carry 50,000 people per hour in each direction, a city needs a 175m wide road for cars. Even if those cars are electric. And then there’s all the parking. OR a city can move A LOT MORE people in a lot less space, with A LOT LESS public money, emissions, pollution, noise etc. Choices. Simple.

It is genuinely bizarre that we’ve become acclimatized to right wingers throwing a tantrum every time a black person (particularly a black woman) is cast in something, but are also supposed to pretend that this is not racism but related to some other substantive concern.

Weird to cast the guy who is the same age as Scrooge (or older) in a prequel for the story. Is this the story of the month before the events in the Christmas Carol?

Johnny Depp starring in the movie nobody wants about a guy everybody hates and nobody cares about is so funny that it feels like an insult that Johnny Depp was too stupid to pick up on

Our Supreme Court majority apparently read A Christmas Carol and thought Scrooge was the hero up until the end.

an unhoused man was recently arrested for "felony camping" & it's telling imo that, once he was released from custody, he went right back to the park where he sleeps turns out when you put a homeless person in jail, they're *still homeless* when they leave jail! ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...

Not the use of the word "detained" here to make it appear as though the settlers have some legal capacity to be doing this. If i ran up on a US Rep with a rifle and prevented them from leaving it would be, correctly, described as kidnapping; and doing so with political ends would be terrorism.

The amount of money in Musk's bank account is not a measure of his genius or even the "value" of his companies. It is rather a measure of the gullibility of investors and the greed of the industry that is designed to harness that to fuel their own wealth creation.

As someone who also peaked in the '80s, I'd like to make it clear that I, too, will not be performing at the Freedom 250 concert in Washington, D.C.

I keep seeing this. Weird how people can’t imagine anyone switching away from the dying, antiquated GOP.

If anyone switches parties their seat should be vacated and there should be a mandatory special election.

Ohio’s state sales tax exemption for data centers cost $1.6 BILLION in 2025 — 11x more than its original estimate. That’s $1.6 billion that could have gone to public schools and healthcare instead of Big Tech CEOs’ pockets. Is it any wonder communities are organizing against data centers?

The reason they give out Bigot Wizard Game for free so often is becuase they want to improve it's "sales" stats to justify making more. If you download it and play it, you are directly contributing to giving that crone more money to hurt a minority that has never done anything to her.
