If I ever do manage to meet my alternate timeline self, I hope she's super evil/ shallow/ otherwise awful, because I will 100% be mugging her, taking her place, and abandoning her to this hellscape, and I don't want to feel bad about it.
Good ad. It focuses on an actual significant issue that impacts Iowans' lives, instead of catering to a made-up problem by targeting a vulnerable population for scapegoating.
Ten years of one party control has left our rural communities with less access to care & in a constant fight to keep clinics open.
Zach Lahn supports the cuts that put us in this spot. He won't have to live with the consequences because he can just fly back to Kansas, but Iowans will suffer.

Innocent, unperverted political comment:
My broken brain: Heh heh heh...
There's a peach joke in there somewhere.
(I'm too embarrassed to even comment on the Unperverted Comment.
But I know my weirdos get it.)

Wild chain of events: An artist on FB asked who the subject of a painting was--she'd painted from a photo. A friend alerted me. I was able to tell Shannon Burch that her painting of a woman protesting at Broadview ICE... was me. Honored, to say the least. Abolish ICE www.instagram.com/p/De48EQUGYSF/

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who spared a thought for my country today, who amplified information about the coup d’état attempt, and worried about Brazil’s democratic future—the world’s democratic future. We won! Women won! The Amazon won! Young people won! Democracy won! Hope won!
King: today we visit a blorbo ruining farm for ruining blorbos
Vernon: i'm telling you, we just grow sorghum here
King: uh huh
King: and where's the blorbo ruining happening?
Vernon: round back

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover.
As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible.
PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.
Going to be very interesting to see how @joshturek4iowa.bsky.social does relative to other Iowa Dems. He keeps reminding voters he's just GOP lite, but still that 100% anti-trans flavor!
Who the fuck is this supposed to appeal to?

Platforming Amy Acton's estranged abuser mother is just such a perfect contemptible illustration of the whole GOP's rapist, abuser core.
Acton's mother gave birth and probably fed her some times, and Acton wrecked the family and didn't spend her life supporting her mother? The ingratitude!
It's just such a gross intersection of the "rape victims should get over it and not upset the lives of predators/enablers", "kids are liars", and "how dare the kids not pick up the phone when their estranged parents call?"

Another Dem - in Iowa (!) -- answers Rep attacks w/o throwing us under bus: "As the only one in this race who ran track in school, it matters that girls’ sports are fair. That’s why Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ false smear campaign is downright pathetic..."
I wonder if people who had their appearances Mar-a-Lagoed, presumably at significant cost and discomfort, only to be dropped by Trump, experience something like the sense of "what was it even for" that a whole lot of the work-hard-study grad school types are experiencing under this kakistocracy?
I know America. I know that, in America, we believe in a country big enough for all of us.
So, JD Vance, don't you dare come from Ohio to lecture me. You don't know a damn thing about America.
Just had a student fail a certification exam pretty badly. Turns out they'd been studying using an AI slop "practice exam", labeled with the certifying organization's name but of course unaffiliated and unapproved by that org.
Kinda feels like there should be punitive repercussions for this shit.
(They sent me a link to it. It was absolutely NOT a helpful resource. About 5 good questions, and a whole lot of misleading slop, most of it not even pertinent to the certification.
But someone could make a quick, easy buck and that's all this nation cares about.)
We're going to have the MAGA version of the student loan crisis, where people take out loans to get the cosmetic alterations to fit a job... and then discover there is no job.
Weeeelllll THAT was creepy!

I’ve been following the pumpkin market since early October, and, if these trends continue, I think we’re going to be teaching with a pumpkin in every classroom by June of next year!
