Fredericton could have helped host the Canada Games in 2029, but City Council said no. Now Moncton and Saint John get the provincial and federal money.

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

My first engineering boss told me there's no prizes for being right in this line of work, but the penalty for being very wrong is to lose your job and get sued out of existence.

And that's the fun of life as an engineer - nobody applauds or congratulates you when everything works the way it should, but they'll line up to bury you when things go wrong.

Imagine you have a car. You need the car to get to work. If you can't get to work, you'll lose your job. The check engine light just came on. You take the car to the mechanic. He gives you two options, do the repair today, or do a patch job to get you through the winter. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

How do you quantify the risk of a province-wide blackout against a $158M potential savings? I'd like NB Power to find ways to save money and reduce its operating costs, but I have a hard time criticizing the utility for spending money on critical infrastructure.

The mechanic doesn't like the idea of the patch job. He thinks it should last, but you really ought to just bite the bullet and do the full repair. You'll have to do the full repair in the future anyways. There's reasons to chose the patch job, but there's a big risk, you could lose your job.

Now imagine you own a nuclear power plant. The power plant needs repairs. If the plant fails, there's a risk of blackouts. If the plant fails on the coldest day of winter, things could get real ugly when people can't heat their homes. The EUB is complaining we didn't consider the the patch job.

The United States of America sending envoys to the Kremlin to grovel at the feet of Russian leaders is such an incredibly pathetic look. You won the Cold War for this?

Steve Witkoff to Putin: You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that, I commend you, and I thank you again.

Fun fact that might only interest me. The most federalist riding in Alberta is Edmonton Manning, named for Premier Ernest Manning, leader of the right wing Social Credit Party. The most separatist riding in Alberta is Central Peace - Notley, named for Grant Notley, former leader of the NDP.

A scene from my Grade 11 math class that will always live in my head: TEACHER: and how would we solve for the roots of this formula? CLASS: (silence) TEACHER: it's a formula CLASS: (silence) TEACHER: it rhymes with raw-dratic STUDENT AT BACK: pythagorean theorum?

You've been given the ability to call a provincial referendum, but you can't exceed the 25% Alberta separatist result. What question are you asking?
