It says a lot about this industry rn that when I first saw Sucker Punch being mentioned I was terrified it was just *gone*, then relieved it wasn’t, then pissed off for all the devs let go. This has sadly been a trend at studios for decades, but now they’re going out into a much worse job market.

Ghost of Yotei studio Sucker Punch has reportedly laid off more than two dozen staff as it prepares for its next project. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/ghost-o...

CPJ condemns the conviction of Lina Attalah, editor-in-chief of the independent Egyptian news outlet Mada Masr, on charges of running an unlicensed website. We call on Egyptian authorities to reverse the ruling, release her immediately, and end their campaign against journalism. cpj.org?p=630478

AI is here to stay: a) ignores all the other actually-useful advances we've made in machine learning up to this point b) never actually explains what it is that makes the new AI so fundamentally load-bearing

I can see a way forward for LLMs to MAYBE continue operating at the small scale, developed in-house with in-house data ethically sourced from the company's own artists and coders. But this current pipe-dream of purchasing large-scale AI as a Service from a centralized provider? lol. lmao.

Replying to @rooseveltinstitute.org

A depleted trust fund is far from inevitable. Congress has a six-year window to act. It can cut benefits, or it can rebuild the revenue base that pays into the program, so everyone gets the security they were promised. That choice will shape Social Security for millions of Americans.

This is about folding phones but it's a perfect explanation of why everything is so shit.

And it looks like she won downtown pretty handily anyway.

Note how the mayor-elect won by getting people in suburban wards to vote for them rather than by appealing exclusively to voters who live downtown *cough*

[approaches a couple] "So which of you is Castlevania's Castle, and which of you is the Inverted Castle?"

The hour has switched over, and we've got new Silent Auctions to look at! We've got two going right now: A pair of painted Castlevania Goblets and a hand-crafted quilt based on the Magic the Gathering Sol RIng card. Go check these out on the site, they end at 4am PT! desertbus.org/2026/prizes/...

Voters feeling less disenfranchised and showing up more is another strong evidence why we need electoral reform towards proportional representation (which can also be ranked-choice at the same time too)

BC election data shows 52% of voters stayed home. Global data shows all things being equal proportional elections have higher turnout than systems built solely on single-winner-ridings, because proportional representation means everyone feels they have a voice.

Here's a direct link to House Dem's Judiciary Cmte report. The executive summary begins: "A growing body of evidence demonstrates that Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s." democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

Per a new report from House Democrats, Trump's DOJ is withholding evidence of his ties to Epstein and slow-walking the complete release of the Epstein files. It's time to end the cover-up and expose the truth. Remember this when you cast your ballot. www.ms.now/news/house-j...

I am by no means a smart man, but “Running for president to avoid imprisonment” should really be removed as a viable plan.
