What's striking to me are the rules of engagement and the methodology of action here, which more or less is predicated on burying liberal delusions about "debate" or the "marketplace of ideas". The rules were ultimately very simple: amplify your own message and suppress your opponent's.

Lib Dem’s discussing the strength of Lula’s win and its implications and how he didn’t yield to the far right 👍 when their coalition gave us the most sustained and intense assault the working class in my lifetime 👍 and they campaigned to repeal a similar result in percentage and turnout in 2016 👍

Secret to winning an election is getting every polling company to put you 1–2% behind, launch massive rallies in every major city and call your opposition a cunt in front of everyone. And that’s it!

6 states have counted at least 90% of precincts: —Distrito Federal: Bolsonaro +8.6% (R1: B+13) —Tocatins: Bolsonaro +3% (R1: B+7) —Paraíba: Lula +36% (R1: L+28) —Mato Grosso do Sul: Bolsonaro +19.6% (R1: B+24) —Espírito Santo: Bolsonaro +12.2% (R1: B+17) —Paraná: Bolsonaro +25.2% (R1: B+29)

It has to be the Christian stuff hasn’t it? My parents can be viscerally opposed to occult stuff, they even brought an archdeacon friend to rid their house of bad spirits (they’re having a horrible time so allow it). Despite being a nonbeliever I sometimes feel watched and morally guided!

With amber warnings on and horizontal hail falling, Buttermere evacuates most tourists and attracts a few Cumbrians for a pwopah fell race

Managed to find said myspace interests section when migrating my files, as teen me decided it was fun enough to save:

Aged 15 we saw an online mutual listening to his own unreleased music on last.fm so we set up a fake myspace band account for it with a track reading his pretentious interests section over some AMM in a nerd voice complete with the Ammusic album cover (truck: “[his name]”, signpost: “Genius Land ⬅️”

Friends fear I’m transferring media to my new computer in the small hours. Someone’s got to preserve that Banksy & DJ Dangermouse parody of Paris Hilton’s album!

Anyone fancying Kraftwerk at the Piece Hall on 22nd June? Tickets are less than I expected (damning, faint praise) although all those surcharges they heap on at checkout may well double or treble it

Music’s become traj especially since Covid, but slack’s been picked up outside the anglosphere. Whereas Britain pumps out private school shit, tribute bands, glorified karaoke or computer bollocks, touring bands come from all over to depose us with exciting, relevant and innovative sounds.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

It’s also extremely good that after recent years there are decent numbers of foreign-born people even in small, end-of-the-line towns like mine, and while Facebook people like to lose their heads over it, any metric shows it’s been an unalloyed good. Thanks, Daddy Borris!

Just look at those gusts Burnham has in store for us this weekend. Going to prop a few logs up against my house as a buttress so I don’t wake up to complete devastation

Rare but obvious purchase. Almost bought The Shovel Dance while I was at it but you’re paying postage from the Great Satan 👎

Just been outside to talk things through with the chap building me a replacement gate to the one that blew to pieces in similar weather on Weds. Flicking the heating on a little now. My word!

Let’s say you’re catering a function for a few hundred people. Will any of them be vegetarian, do you think? Oh, but you’re a golf club aren’t you 🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦖🦖🦖🦖🦖🦖🦖🦖Jurassic.World.Dominion.2022.RiP.144p.avi

Thing is, this is happening to ostensibly diverse groups of people with company, good looks, charisma, doing things anyone else would do in public. It’s abuse that should more or less disbar you from societal participation, yet it’s routine treatment for those who are racialised in Britain today.

"This hatred, it’s like a cancer. It spreads because people will always say, ‘Oh, it’s just the illegals.’ It’s not. “From what I experienced, it was anyone who was remotely different, different creed, different colour, different sexuality.” www.theargus.co.uk/news/2665180...

The way I only needed to see that first photo to know exactly who he’s talking about 🤌

FWIW here’s what I described as looking like school dinners.

What so-called climate campaigners neglect to mention is that Rosebank is actually a nice name that evokes sweet scents, abundant floral displays and meticulous landscaping. Exactly the scenes they ought to celebrate. Does that too not have a place in their vision of our future?

Harrogant will be happy when they hear Touray scored, as it’ll remind them of spring days, skipping over to the polling station

A friend reminded me that Amol Rajan once did one of those ‘day in the life’ profiles for a weekend paper, and he said he liked to go to a local bar who did a good rum punch, and it turned out it was a branch of Turtle Bay
