This is absolutely insane: DHS claims the right to subpoena your emails and to send investigators to your house. In this case, because a retiree sent the mildest possible criticism to a prosecutor. No judges involved. www.washingtonpost.com/investigatio...

Hey if you’re looking to try/retry/find a home on the ActivityPub/mastodon shaped part of the fediverse, I will personally help you get set up, move followers, block assholes, etc I have no interest in debating the merit of bsky-v-mastodon, purely offering help. Reskeets welcome ✨

“WAGMI” — we're all gonna make it — was crypto's 2021 rallying cry. But those with wealth and power knew it was a lie, and that “all” just meant them. My latest traces the last five years from hype to technoligarchy — and why they're not all gonna make it either.

So, y'all. My big project in school this semester is on AI. Not so much the how to, but the cautions there of. I've been collecting stories and resources, but I thought instead of just ticking them away, I'll start sharing them here. In this thread.

Bluesky isn't the echo chamber, Twitter is. Elon's Twitter algorithms are 4chanifying the platform, driving away those who want civil conversation, leaving behind those who enjoy toxicity.

Kind of amazing that all responses now on X are just trolls. I can't wade through and block enough of them to see actual people responding to whatever the article or post is.

I was talking with someone a couple days ago about how the Popular With Friends feed had gotten stale lately. I found a few issues with it, fixed them, and have that running now. Please give it another try and let me know how it is!

Threads just feels like it is full of ragebait and bots, people willing to make outlandish statements because it gets them to the top of the algo. No thanks.

Last year, in an attempt to escape from Twitter, I tried Mastodon, but the UX didn't click for me. Then a Bluesky invite showed up. It was the Twitter clone I was looking for. I started crossposting as a hedge, I even started sending invites of my own. I was all in. Then I went back to Twitter.

I’ll be going to bluehat next week!!
