These people don’t want to win; they don’t even want to persuade. They want a world where they are a pure and rarified elite, with none of the responsibilities of actual power, only the smug gratification of being right.

I think Sarah McBride's presence in the caucus has been extremely important in preventing Labourization because most of these people are kind of dumb and she can explain what's going on in small words.

Brazil’s results tonight are a big endorsement for the idea that every country should have a second “are you you sure about that” election a couple weeks after the first one for the important stuff

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

Yes they did. Quite a few of them have said this on the record in major newspapers

Matthew Sheffield@matthew.flux.community

Yes exactly. I think there is an unfortunate tendency to blame voters who often are very hardpressed for time and lack media literacy. A majority of Hispanic men voted for Trump, as did nearly half of Hispanic women. They weren't voting for deporting 20 million people.

I don’t want to post it without permission, but my girlfriend’s aunt just sent us a video of her blasting the same air horn she does during Brazil matches. The JOY.

interestingly this interest in black voters doesn’t extend to the republican effort to deprive them of federal representation, nor do they seem interested in asking whether republican candidates are burdened by the fact that trump talks like a klansman

Remember this all backed by the USA Government, Elon Musk and the collection of USA Oligarchs They are exercising their power to punish a political party in an independent nation state because it forced USA companies (X) to follow the law.

My girlfriend’s 96-year-old grandmother, still sharp as can be but ailing, braved going out to vote for Lula. She lived under dictatorship and said she wants to die knowing her family will not have to live what she lived. She braved the rain and lack of access to do her part. A legend.

Hate to break it to you but, 1. Bad people with bad goals exist, 2. They want power, 3. They have precisely as much access to public office and voting as anyone else. Therefore, there is no end to this and there never will be. Democracy must be maintained. You must always vote accordingly.

These people are Nazis. They hate this country and would gladly tear it apart to hurt people they’ve decided are the out group.

This moment was entirely unacceptable, but it's good Elian was returned to his father, and the main problem in this case was his great uncle repeatedly refusing to respect court orders, which is the only reason there was LEO involvement in the first place.

Once mass spam texts were made legal, younger donors vanished, leaving a grassroots fundraising machine that subsists on squeezing vulnerable seniors, some of whom give hundreds of times a day. It’s a horrific model. Consultants get generationally wealthy, and the party hollows out its future.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

As we approach the midterms, remember that the Alt National Park Service is a merch sales operation claiming without evidence to be a group of federal employees, and is not a genuine source of news about elections of any kind. Please get your election info from a local, reputable source.

This dumb hack has no power to do that. States don't have to listen to anything he says.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

🚨🚨🚨 Q: Is there any scenario in which DOJ would try to block states from certifying the election? AG TODD BLANCHE: Yes, of course. It is not DOJ's intention to improperly interfere with elections or the state certification process, but ...

Fuck every single Republican.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Acton, is a liar, and much worse. The Press is trying to get him to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about daughter that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

JD Vance: "When you're mean to Amy Acton, she sics the American media and of course the Democrat Party operatives all across the state of Ohio after you. But I think a person who is more worried about whether somebody says something mean about them, that person can never serve in the gov's mansion"

I love shit like this, because it's very obviously made up nonsense if you have literally any memory of 2020 whatsoever, and proves that a whole lot of people on here don't want to actually affect real change; they want to fucking larp as revolutionaries.

youtubers, streamers, podcasters, etc are always on this beat bc they don't know how anything works & know that if they say something like this, their audiences will lap it up now & also 3 years later when they point to total gay commie revolution not happening and go "see? i was right!"

Not for nothing but PBS does election night coverage and we work really really really hard on it. Union shop as well!

Oliver Darcy@oliverdarcy.bsky.social

Scoop from @brettlogiurato.bsky.social: CBS has sold its local election night coverage to DraftKings, stirring more controversy inside the David Ellison-owned company. Details in @status.news: www.status.news/p/cbs-draftk...

People objecting to this framing will never get the campaign they truly want, because any swing state progressive who talks to voters, even if the candidate shared these posters' beliefs, won't run that type of campaign for some reason.
