I'm about studying & explaining all things Communications, Culture & Technology because that was my graduate degree. A media expert/disinformation type who will always rant about Aaron Sorkin’s impact on American politics. More Ohioan than JD. she/her.

You know, I have been thinking a bit about William Shatner lately. This is going to sound weird. I think he has finally achieved what he said he wanted for so long, people think of him more as William Shatner than Captain Kirk at long last. Thoughts below.

Which seems more plausible? The Pope calls Putin from his hospital bed to demand ceasefire OR Melania herself develops ceasefire plan complete with "a "detailed plan" for the evacuation operation, "down to each hour and day." Good grief. www.yahoo.com/news/politic...

The NY Post is calling this art installation in Tehran, featuring a performer dressed as Trump in a mock jail cell, “sickening.” Surely they jest.

In any other admin, this would probably be the most outrageous official statement ever made by a sitting FCC director: Strongly implying that the government forbids broadcast networks from reporting on the president's falling poll numbers. (Sorry to paste from twitter but that's where he posts.)

I still vividly remember how much effort was put into trying to convince the first term Obama WH to care about abortion as much as religious GOP did. His people did not. Some of his people tried and lost out to Biden and cynicism by others who still are actively working in politics today.

When you’re cribbing Sorkin from more than 25 years ago, you know the writers have reached the bottom of the barrel.

I am yet again staking out the position that a pardon issued as part of a corrupt or criminal scheme in which the President is involved or materially benefits from is void ab initio I’ll find some Blackstone or Coke quote supporting this when I need to

My brain cannot process this level of corruption. She was being paid $50 million to engineer a pardon from Trump *while working at the Justice Department* as a "Special Government Employee." And it worked. He got the pardon, and she got the money. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/20/u...

Inject this into my veins! I remember everything embarrassing about that era including the sketch comedy troupe in LA that started “performing” some of the show’s comedy while it was still on air and Sorkin had a fit!

Aaron Sorkin's infamous Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip debuted 20 years ago this fall. I talked with a group of contemporary comedy writers about why the show didn't work, but also why they're still obsessed with it:

Also Matthew Perry said some things about Aaron Sorkin (politely) in his autobiography. Essentially suggesting Sorkin had too much ego to admit he wasn’t a comedian.

Huge follow-up reporting to my scoop: The Guardian confirmed America Next—the conservative nonprofit founded by Bobby Jindal that was offering students $ to disrupt El-Sayed events—paid a firm registered to Tommy Teepell’s dad Timmy $250k for “canvassing and influencer marketing” against El-Sayed.

The most horrifying part about this to me is that there's ways to do paperwork to prevent this, but poor people are not taught about it, we are not informed that we need to do this, rich people know all the paperwork secrets and they intentionally keep poor people from them

if millennials could afford homes this wouldnt be a problem but this is going to hit the generation like a truck

I can't tell if he cheaped out on the Black representative because he's A) Black B) only a Representative or C) Knew he didn't drink (?) It's weird to be the lowest corrupt man on the bribery totem pole.

This post is unavailable.

Dumb thing about those kinds of pricey bribes (liquor)...the Senators prefer things they want (cash, trips) so they often re-give them to their CoS or whomever is most favored in their office. I suppose the briber wants to know "its the thought that counts."

I want to "Yes, but" this lead ancedote. The individual has been living this way since 1997! That implies it has more to do with this individuals personality about where he wants to work/live.

To Beltway elites, folks like Susan Collins, Lindsey Graham and Jim Clyburn symbolized the "Good Washington" that was soiled by the uncouth Trump But here they are in steakhouses ripping off taxpayers with bogus contracts in return for campaign cash Yo, pundits, your life is based around a lie

We could get rid of Donald Trump and legalized bribery is still in place (Also the Supreme Court has been accepting bribes)

The Atlantic@theatlantic.com

The Supreme Court has, over the course of decades, legalized behavior that is poisonous to a functioning democracy, Leo J. Wise, a former Justice Department prosecutor, argues:

I don't expect a "former DOJ prosecutor" who worked with federal judges to be as honest as saying the Supreme Court Justices are being bribed but that's where the piece could start and end. Scalia *taught* Thomas how to do this bribery.

Well, you can't expect a random reporter to understand the Constitution. I mean, it's not like she's CBS's chief *legal* correspond-- (finger to earpiece). Oh. Oh no. OK, yeah, that's bad.
