Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But whatβs something that youβve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?
Rubio is gonna end up running half of the executive by the time we get to 2028.
Trump: "We'll take care of Cuba on our way back from Iran ... those beautiful ships, they'll pass Cuba. We'll have one of them stop about 50 yards off the coast. They'll raise up their hands, and then we're gonna send Marco Rubio in."
Thanks to Nathan Fielder for this slightly-off #earworm I've had this week: open.spotify.com/track/30SCXV...
That bass exit to the last minute of Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up" is just a mood. #tune open.spotify.com/track/3J319s...

"So the guy called himself a king" *muffled gasps from the panel* "and he sent thousands of soldiers to quarter in my city" *Washington audibly whispers "what the f-"* "and so we, like, formed this system where we'd call up people within a minute or two if they showed up" Paul Revere: hell yes
Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

People outside of California just do not understand that most of the state does NOT fuck with the Dodgers. Certainly not by geography.

Go to Netflix and watch this. #Blindspotting youtu.be/-rL-m3HbVv0?...
The combo of his mental decline, 24/7 non-stop sycophancy, and the stress of the nearing disastrous midterms are eroding his mask at an accelerating rate. Once the election results come in, it is going to slip completely. He won't be able to hold any of his anger or cruelty in. Worst yet to come.
π³ Trump snaps at another reporter: "Hey! I don't know who the hell you are but you better be careful"
Yup, it is slipping. bsky.app/profile/atru...
YIKES -- Trump loses his shit at a reporter for the third time during this Q&A -- "Wait wait -- Quiet. Quiet!!!! What's wrong with you? Are you a SICK person?"

Nice to see an instance of Deliverism occur in the wild. It was looking like a completely exhaust political science theory after the 2024 election.
"After weighing these factors, Paulk has decided for the first time in his life to cast a ballot for a Democrat -- Ossoff. He doesn't agree with him on all issues -- notably, abortion -- but it's Ossoff's help in getting federal aid after Helene wreaked havoc on Paulk's grape crop that won his vote"

the other thing is that conservatives resolutely do not see the purpose of education as providing social mobility but as reifying and deepening existing inequalities of status. they are as hostile to low income students getting admission to elite institutions as they are black ones.

Whatβs astounding to me is how βthe president builds himself a palace with money given directly to him in secret by the richest people in America,β literally the most straightforward and worst executive-branch corruption story in US history, just gets shrugged at because Trump is unapologetic
Q: You said you're gonna put some of your own money into the ballroom. Are you? TRUMP: I may do that. When they run out, I'll be there, okay?

No, "measles parties" were not really a thing. Chicken Pox parties, yes, were not uncommon. But Chicken Pox was a) mostly just inconvenient for most kids that got it (I speak from personal experience) and b) MUCH more dangerous if contracted later in life. So "get it out of the way forever" was real
Minnesota Republican state Sen. Bill Lieske: "Back in the day when the measles vaccine didn't exist, measles was a joke! ... yes, there are increases cases. How many of those are actually resulting in deaths? Are they just going home with the sniffles? Back in the day, people had measles parties."
