As ever, three quarters of "look at this asshole" is always "look at this". Don't do PR for the fash. Don't give free advertising to the worst bastards. There is no dunk witty enough to warrant amplifying their hate.

Rereading Larry Hama’s G.I. Joe, and I continue to be struck by how Cobra’s recruitment speeches and slogans could easily be Elon Musk tweets.

I of course loved him as Chekov, but playing Bester on BABYLON 5 really showed his range. You really forgot the guy ever *was* Chekov in that role. RIP Walter Koenig.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

One week left to back Cinematic Obsessions, which will contain my essay on Weird Al Yankovic's UHF, as well as a group of essays on other films written by a group of enthusiastic writers. www.kickstarter.com/projects/gho...

Ace Week, formerly Asexual Awareness Week, is an international campaign dedicated to raising awareness and expanding education of asexuality. We stand in solidarity with our Ace siblings, team members and supporters!

I swear the worst part of timezone math is the few weeks each year where the US and UK daylight saving times don’t line up.

Oh joy, it’s the annual Six Weeks of Fireworks to Terrify My Dog season

A really cool thread on how the inherent satire in 40k has, over time, made things more complicated.

Rowling *never* writes about women’s rights, workplace discrimination or the threats to women from predatory men. I tracked her posts for five months: Well over 200 hateful transphobic smears. Not a single post about women’s actual concerns or needs None

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover. As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible. PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.

I guess I have to repeat this again: if you agree that Dems have to say anti-trans things to win, then you're not welcome here. You're not a resistor. You're not pragmatic. You're just a bigot and a coward that should never be trusted.

There’s cosplay and then there’s this. This is beyond cosplay. Well done to whoever made this costume for #TFCon. #beastwars #terrorize

Attacks on trans rights are attacks on bodily autonomy If you truly have trouble wrapping your head around the problem: Take a moment to consider that anything anti-trans is telling us that people can be told legally by their government that they have no control over their own bodies

Saw that the TMNT RPG reprint is going out of print soon, so even though the company is based in the US, I checked out what shipping to the UK is like these days. Over £100 to ship two bloody books. Back to supporting only UK print businesses, sadly.

So glad BBC iPlayer has I, Claudius back on. It’s been great to rewatch it after all this time.

"a distinctively British approach to artificial intelligence"

i love when you watch any random cartoon from the 90s and the obvious republican stand-in characters were always like "we don't want any WEIRDOS here in NORMAL TOWN!!!!" and now that's just what the republicans say for real

Doctor Who: The Hand of Fear - Part Four (23rd October 1976). "Till we meet again Sarah".

“You can just start your own studio!” Brother I do not WANT to own a business. I don’t want to be anybody’s boss. I want to write, which is the thing i’m good at!!!

Can confirm that this is a real trailer of the Mass Effect game that BioWare was developing up until its closure yesterday www.reddit.com/r/masseffect...

A tense standoff in the heart of the compound erupts into violence, prompting an audacious bluff that opens a path deeper into the cult leader’s hidden domain. ”Masks of Nyarlathotep” continues with @symphonyhorror.bsky.social, @pugsteady.com and Matthew Dawkins. youtu.be/0-4eU8Jcx8g?...

Ever fucking green

I love it when people can praise or criticize a piece of art without simultaneously putting down the original artist(s) or others who think differently about it. That should be how criticism works, but it's so rare that it feels refreshing when it happens.

This is joining "absolute horses" in my lexicon

Probably the least appealing invitation I’ve ever received.

Dolly Parton's sister claims voting machines in Tennessee changed her vote to the Republican candidate.

Did some math and realised that, aside from taking days off for medical reasons, I've had two days of holiday this year. If I add in various half-days I've taken over the year, I probably have a full work week of holiday. Which maaaaaaay have something to do with how frazzled I've felt lately.

This is brilliant

Decided to buy my first MTG Commander deck (Fantastic Four, naturally). Do any of my Magic friends know of a good box to hold a sleeved deck I can buy in the UK? My quick Google gives me a trillion options, so I’d like to get advice from people who actually use them instead.

Calling all voice actors! The Tabletop Talespinners Network is looking to fill 3 roles in Diaries of Déora, our first ever audio drama project! All characters are femme presenting, but voice actors of any gender identity are welcome to audition. BIPOC performers are especially encouraged to apply!

There are two reasons I never had trouble accepting Trans people. One is that I got a good biology education even before going to Uni to study it. The other is that I did read Terry Pratchett's fantastic books. If you can do both, but at bare minimum read the books!

Doctor Who: City of Death - Part Four (20th October 1979). "I think that was possibly the most important punch in history."

Issue 209 has been added to the STC Scans website now. stcscans.zone/issue.html?i...

I don’t remember who suggested Brian Blessed’s memoir “Absolute Pandemonium” on audiobook, but thank you. It’s fucking amazing, and I’m not someone who generally likes memoirs.

Do you want to read my thoughts about Peter Cushing's Dr Who? Do you want to read the thoughts of other insanely talented people on various cult movies? You have 13 days left to back this Kickstarter! kickstarter.com/projects/ghostshowpress/cinematic-obsessions
