I’ve been writing about ancient calendars and star maps. Then last night I walked the dog at dusk and as I got home, looked up to see a myriad satellites dashing across the dome of stars. So many of them! We’ve changed our view of the heavens so much. Are we now culturally trapped by technology?

Prince Maurice's grave is interesting, because it was a good example of the conflicting thoughts families had. Princess Beatrice refused repatriation of the body. She felt he belonged with his men. But she fought for years for the right to spend her own money on a custom headstone. This was blocked

Getting into the sea this morning, feeling the swell and sway, the sharp coldness, and sensing the emerging light, I couldn’t help but reflect on the immense privilege of having the opportunity to really know this tiny bay. Above, and below.

Oooh, that doesn’t look good… there was quite a bit of confusion at the beginning of the year, So it will be interesting to see the next rounds figures. What I am also amazed by is that the success rate in 2024 was as high as it was 🤯

Robin Bisson@robinbisson.bsky.social

We were told at the start of the year that MRC funding boards had been told to recommend far fewer grants for funding than normal It took a while for the data to come through, but they confirm success rates were down by a big margin The question is now whether the new MRC model will reverse that
